So, I was at A wedding Saturday night and....

... before I go any further I'll give you a little back story to set up the ending. The groom is a very dedicated fan (I'll admit a bigger fan then I), countless shows, collectibles, bootlegs blah, blah, blah, you've heard this all before. So all those close to him, family and friends know this at the wedding, and he is given a choice. Now that he is married, he must choose between eternal love for Pearl Jam or eternal love for his wife. The MC pulls a CD out of his pocket, Pearl Jam's Ten, calls the groom forward, and tells him to break the CD (at this point I'm yelling "Its not worth it, don't do it"), the groom grabs the Cd and puts it in his pocket and walks away only to see his new beautiful wife looking at him. The groom goes into his pocket and decides to fold TEN in half. After the speeches I ran to the head table and said to him " I am so posting this on the Porch"! So here it is.
I think he made the right choice.
I think he made the right choice.

How'd that work out for you? That's what my fiancee and I have decided to use for our song.
Did you play any other PJ/EV songs at your wedding? I've got a few ideas.
but on a brighter note, at least i will never allow those shananigans at my wedding....if i ever decide to get married
My husband wouldn't even let me use PJ as a wedding song, I think I may copy and paste this and e-mail it to him.
Pearl Jam can be a happy, healthy part of a good relationship. And my future husband has great Pearl Jam karma - we got front row tickets to his first Eddie Vedder concert and his second Pearl Jam concert. And so far I've only made him go to one show per tour, and I've carried out the rest of my obsession solo. It's really no big deal :-)
Congrats to the Bride and Groom!!!!
Hope they are married for 70 years, and have lots and lots of babies....
That said...
I wouldnt have broken the CD...
Not because of my Pearl Jam addiction.....FAR FROM IT!!!
I wouldnt have broken the CD.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
But if it were me....
I wouldnt have broken the CD.....
Let me explain...
I understand perfectly that it was all in fun.....TRUST ME!!!!
I understand EXACTLY what the bride was getting at......
Its was probably hilarious.....
But I wouldnt have broken the CD.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
Thats cool but don't bash the bride, it was the MC who put him up to it. Not his wife.
I am sure it was a hilarious moment.......
I could picture my future bride doing the same thing........
Its all good....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
I told my wife afterwards that I didn't think I could do it. She laughed, she said, Eddie would be upset.
hehehehehehehehehe
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
I'm with Speedy. There's also something to be said for eloping. (And I'm female, and we had a *very* small and simple wedding.)
I understand that the comments were meant as a joke, but I do not understand the growing trend of humilating people at wedding receptions. This "tradition" needs to disappear quickly, preferably taking the chicken dance with it.
+1
And the whole garter foolishness, throwing of bouquets, etc. How about two people get up there and exchange vows before their friends and family, and then have a fun party. Nobody's embarrassed, nothing to post on YouTube...
It worked out very well. It seemed like people liked it. Our wedding was in early March, so I think it was kind of the height of popularity for that song so I'm sure some people aside from the hardcore PJ fans (me, my brothers, and a few of my close friends) recognized it.
The strings really make it a good wedding song. If it was just acoustic guitar I don't think it would work.
sadly----i got married before PJ was formed so no PJ at my wedding.

Currently... I almost never play pearl jam around other people just because I don't wanna hear the comments... but I still get them all the time as if I did play PJ all the time. Those that make the comments plant negative seeds about themselves in my mind. I usually find myself very judgmental about the crap other people like when anything is said about my love for PJ.
