After finally attending the shows in London and Berlin, I can listen to backspacer with an entirely new attitude. Except for johnny guitar - even live didn't cure that one. BS is still my least favorite pj studio effort, but that is quite a list to top.
peace everyone

I loved hearing Unthought Known live. Blew me away.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

I didn't fully appreciate "Amongst the Waves" until I saw it live. Now it's one of my favorites. "Got Some," too, but I saw that before BS was released.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Backspacer will be remembered as one of PJ's best albums of all time. A total classic. We'll be begging to see these songs live a few years down the road.

Seriously? JG for me was one of the highlights in Berlin! I was VERY pleased to see this one and Gonna See My Friend make an appearance (I have a feeling it's gonna be a while since they will be played again)

How Backspacer could be anyone's least favourite PJ album I don't know......I genuinely think it can hold its own with some of their best stuff.

I'm going to listen to Johnny Guitar. That and Got Some are the best ones to hear live IMO.

I loved backspacer before I saw them live but wasn't too huge a fan of the fixer.
After seeing it in buffalo its one of my favorite songs on the album now.

In my book Backspacer is one of their best albums. I like the fact that it is short - you can keep focus. The positive feel of the record is great too opposite the last 3 albums. And it has got some songs, which will become classics in a few years time: Unthought Known, Just Breathe, Got Some and Gonna see my friend. - we´ll be freakin´ out everytime we get one of the live. :D

    I love the album!

Me too. I was thrilled they played Johnny Guitar - was kinda worried Ithat I wouldn't hear it at any of my four Backspacer shows. I remember going nuts for the whole song in Berlin. It's so much fun - and the closest to The Who they've ever sounded.

For me, I was hoping to hear Speed of Sound live to help me get a new appreciation for the studio version. Still not over the crushing disappointment of hearing one of Ed's best songs being turned into a poor-to-mediocre song by the band

I got it live at Philly and it was a sad mess. I wish they'd left it out. The demo was stunning...
