Good companions and a basket pile

So yesterday I said to my swimming partner
that I'd decided that we were all like baskets
YES, BASKETS!
in our heads
carrying a collection of images, thoughts, programs, colors, material, or junk
good, bad, healthy, ill, unusual, average, on and on to the edge of the container
and we choose our friends from the best baskets we happen to pick up
we keep the ones with the most good stuff inside
and we quickly leave the bad ones on a table or bench somewhere
(or maybe we donate them to Goodwill?)
for people carry so much inside
and we never know what miscellaneous mixture they hold until we look closely
(and perhaps move stuff around in there)
we're fortunate to get to choose which baskets to keep near by
(and which ones to leave far away)
it's important to discover which ones feel comfortable on our arms
I like the idea of baskets because light and air gets in and out
and minds should have access to both
that I'd decided that we were all like baskets
