I'm going to Vegas this week for work for a few days...can anyone recommend any cool music spots? I'm not really big on gambling so I know I won't really be doing that...also going to San Diego next month for the first time....any ideas on any cool places to see there as well? Thanks in advance!! :D

Vegas has no "good music spots". There really isn't much of a "local music scene" because of all the cheesy entertainment on the strip. Give Red Rock Canyon a try. It beats most everything else in Vegas (although this time of year you might melt). Nine Fine Irishmen can be decent on a Friday or Saturday night too if Sin-i-ri-ra is playing. It's still cheesy but it can be fun.

Sorry. Not familiar enough with SD. Just happened to live in Vegas for 4 years. If you like Italian, try Batista's behind the Flamingo. It's better than most of the over-priced places you'll find in the casinos.

I've never been unsatisfied with the music at the Hard Rock Casino.
They have a couple of clubs and bars inside, definetly worth the visit if you're really looking for good music to enjoy.
Also, I'd attend the Blue Man and/or the LOVE shows, they're both incredible and can make your stay magical!
    :)

I also liked the ambience and atmosphere at a bar next to the CIrque du Soleil show at Treasure Island... something more latin, if you like, but they had a nice piano duel last time I've been there!

If you're more into dancing american style (I mean... climbing the tables up and maybe getting your shirt wet ;) ), I'd suggest the Coyote Ugly at NYNY. Or Studio 54 at the MGM for something more respectful.

If you're gonna be there during the high summer season, also try the pool parties! They're very exciting! I specially enjoyed the one at the asian bar at Venetian... Taj, I guess, but I might be missing the name.

In San Diego you can find nice bars and beach parties at La Jolla and the best nighclubs are Downtown... and nice dinners at the Old Town!
    =)

The Casbah is a great music venue in San Diego. Local and touring acts. I believe they book 7 nights a week.
Great place to see a good show with some quality locals

Definitely The Casbah in SD. The Gaslamp district downtown is the trendy, happening place for clubs and restaurants. Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach are the beach scene with bars. There are a handful of other music venues depending on what you want to see...The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, Winston's in Ocean Beach, The House of Blues in Downtown, etc... If you're looking for something specific let me know and I'd be happy to provide suggestions!
