FLAC/MP3 files

Ok...so I recently found the power of FLAC. Plain and simple, they just sound better.

That being said, I convert them to mp3 for itunes/ipod, thus creating two copies of PJ's boots. One in FLAC and one in mp3. Do I still need to keep the FLAC? If so, I am looking for some advice on how you organize it.

I have an external hard drive(very much loaded with well over 250 PJ shows). Each show has it's own file on my harddrive(makes it easier to find if something should happen to my computer). Should I then save both the FLAC and MP3 copies in that file?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

You should ALWAYS save the FLAC and consider your MP3 copy the disposable copy.

No. You don't NEED to keep the FLAC, but why would you get rid of the superior source? If you were going to do that, you could just go back to MP3s and save a couple of bucks.

As for organizing, I just organize mine by date.

    YYYY.MM.DD - City, State/Country.

Exactly! Backup those Flac files on data CDRs, data DVDRs, Hard Drives & data Blu-ray discs. Online music traders trade Flac files only. No mp3's! So if you're looking for a show, the trade bait is Flac files. MP3's will get you a talking too. Plus with Flac files you can extract the Wav files and convert them to whatever audio file format you want.
