So about two weeks ago my buddy Ian and I took off on our first hitch hiking adventure. We started in Lansing, MI and are currently sitting in Missoula, MT. We have two friends here that have put us up for a few days but we are bidding farewell to them tomorrow morning. Anyways the point of this thread is to advertise a bit. If you see two guys walking down the side of the highway with a blue pack and a red pack its Ian and I. We are two very friendly guys. I'm 22 and he will be 24 on the 12th of July. If you are looking for some company we aren't shy and keep a good conversation. Our next destination from here is Portland, OR. We will be taking highway 90 tomorrow heading that way. So if you see us and feel up to picking up two strangers please don't hesitate. Thanks for listening. Keep on keepin on everyone.

No sexual favors. Well... If you get me drunk enough maybe..

But in all seriousness yeah. If anyone needs help with anything shy of needing money we are more then willing to help out with chores or whatever.

I'm working on not being turned into anyones skins suit. I am my own skin suit.

Good luck! I've never, nor will I ever, pick up a hitchhiker. I'm sure 99% of them are cool ppl doing exactly what you are, but I'm just not willing to take the chance.

Contrary to what you might be told, try and make a stop in SLC. It's a great city.

Good luck on your adventure, but I also would never ever pick up a hitch hiker.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Like I said we are two very friendly guys from Lansing, MI. But I totally understand why some people would never pick one of us up. Anyways i'm hitting the road in about twenty minutes here heading down 90 just outside of Missoula, MT so if you see us and want some good conversation pull on over to the side of the road. Were heading West toward Portland, OR. Red and Blue packs. They are hard to miss. They weigh just over forty pounds.

Seriously. If you have nothing really holding you down (spouse, kids, job, debt) get out and do it. If you keep an open mind you will meet so many amazing people and see so many amazing places. Get out there and do it. People werent put here to sit in a cubicle and work their lives away.

How do people not have a job "holding them down"? Independently wealthy?

That's what I'm thinking. You'd have to be in between chapters in your life, e.g. just graduating college and at an in between point?

I have two jobs currently. They are both just very good about giving me time off when I need it. Crap taking usually happens in the woods or on the side of the road hidden by trees. Or at gas stations. We are now in San Francisco. Having a great time. an old family friend is putting us up for the next day or two. Hitchhiking is an amazing time. Thanks everyone for all the kind words and encouragement. If anyone ever gets a chance to do this, do it. I can't stress that enough. It restores your faith in humanity. The amount of people that have given us rides or a place to stay with open arms is amazing. Keep on keepin on everyone. San Diego is our final destination. A nine hour car ride away. Should be fun.
