Any suggestions for a song that an amateur can easily play along with, get a simple rhythm going with easy chords and chord changes.

Wish List is a pretty easy/good song to play along to, and all the "leads" are one-note-at-a-time...

    Go with Elderly Woman

it's a good one to know
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Cheers for all the suggestions, I have been playing around with Long Road for a while now and enjoy it very much. Has anybody else seen that dude on Utube teaching Last Kiss, he looks totally disinterested but it is quite funny, I'm going to start working on the other suggestions, thanks.

I wouldnt class life wasted as that easy? I mean, Stones part has a capo crossing 5 strings and part of it is played infront and part of it is played behind the capo?

But EWBCST is a good reco.

Stone's part in yellow ledbetter is really easy. i play mike's intro and then when i sing it i switch to stone's part. E, B, A..until the change at the quiet part before mike's outro is power chords D#, E, B, then D#, E, A....simple stuff but very very effective.

Long Road fo sho. Easiest song to play in history and for me one of the most satisfying even though I would be considered a guitar veteran.

  • I like to play:
    Got Some
    Crown of Thorns
    Mankind
    Lukin
    Porch
    Immortality
    Alive

In that order and it sounds awesome
  • Even Flow

Nah dont learn that one for years. Corduroy is definitely the most fun to play with, especially album version.
  • Every time I pick up my guitar as of late I immediately start to play Around the Bend.

All or None is also fun. You just have to tune your low E down to C# and throw a capo on 4. That's really the hardest part though; it's a very easy song and it sounds great.
