if you can't get either cable or dsl, it looks like a pretty viable option

although I would suggest cable internet first and set up a wireless network in your home

is Clear related to Time Warner---for some reason i think it is. I have time warner if that helps!! :D
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream

    yes, in a sense

it's primarily owned by Sprint...but TW, Comcast, Google, and some others have invested in it as well

Basing things from providers in my area:
cable modem offers up to 10mbps download speed
dsl has 3 packages: max is up to 6 mbps; middle is up to 3 mbps; lowest is up to 1.5 mbps
clear has 2 home packages: max is up to 6 mbps; lowest is up to 1.5 mbps

cable modem is the priciest option, but also offers faster speeds
clear's speeds are comparable to dsl and the prices are just about the same

Again, if I had to choose, I'd go with a dedicated line instead of wireless simply because wireless is more prone to service interruptions. However, if the dedicated line isn't an option, this would probably be a good option. For what it's worth, the customer reviews I read upon looking up this company have been overall positive.

my only other option is qwest...I believe it is dsl at 1.5 Mbps

I'm trying to get comcast to bring a line to my new house...my rear neighbor who is probably no more than 50ft away has comcast...I have even told them I'll pay for time and materials...waiting to hear back.

not saying that they will, but being that close, comcast should be able to run a feed to your house

if comcast declines, I would probably go with clear since you'd be able to download faster (if you don't mind outages during storms and such)....To me it's worth it to go with the better speed. If you don't particularly care about that, then I'd go with the cheaper option.

    First, fuck comcast.

Secomd, clear is the backbone of sprints 4g service. I've been using the clear network via my phone for the last.week. overall its been good. My download has been 3 to 4 megs typically.

Assuming you can get a solid signal, i'd give it try before i would ever think about getting comcast. Fuck comcast

Ping is basically how long it took for your computer to talk to the speedtest server and back ;)
