on the 4th phish played their wildly coveted song harpua, which usually includes a random cover in the middle, sometimes mockin other music, sometimes praising

this time out they dropped a raging killin in the name!!! (i was not there, sadly)

anyway my homie who is on twitter (i am not) said that eddie tweeted the youtube and called it "legendary"

can anyone confirm this?

  • @eddievedder is a fan & not EV - says it on the profile. The Phish tweet is legit.

Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

i may be incorrect but isn't that "story" actually the song Harpua?
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

yes, harpua...it is a song with two distinct parts, in the middle there is usually (pretty much always) a narration. the narration is always different, most often but not always it includes a cover or at least a tag of a song blah blah blah...

These guys I so damn talented I honestly think they can cover anything. I was right up front at The Lemonwheel when they busted out Beastie's "Sabotage" and it was unreal. 99 Problems with Jay-Z in Brooklyn was great as well. Even though I don't really like their albums past Billy Breathes I definitely give them props for one of the best live shows out there. The crazy thing is that I have heard stories about them finishing the second set, going backstage and listening to a random song a few times, and then coming back out and nailing it during their encore without even practicing it beforehand. That sort of spontaneity and randomness is what makes Phish great.

did that with tuesday's gone at great woods in 94? (date could be way off). It was a tuesday, so they figured they would play it. Somebody went out during the first set, got the cd, and wrote the lyrics on a piece of paper for trey. They listened to it once at setbreak, and came out and played it perfect (with trey using paper for lyrics)
