So...we're nearly through another batch of European festival shows and while we can't discuss the best shows of this short tour as we still have three to go...

What have been Pearl Jam's best ever festival shows of the past....????? Being from Australia I have never seen them in a festival here.

What does everyone think? I presume Bonaroo will be a popular choice!

Lollapalooza 2007 was REAL good, but also my only time seeing them as part of a festival, so I am slightly bias, wish I would have seen Bonaroo

Reading Festival 06 is definitely one of the best PJ shows I've seen. Lolla 07 is up there too

I've only seen two(Lolla 07 and ACL Fest 09), but Lolla was by far one of the coolest PJ show experiences of my life. Maybe it was the crowd or the band energy, but it was a rocking good time.

AGREED! it could be the joint high of the vic + lolla (both front row for the first time ever) but that weekend remains one of the coolest of my life!

the only downside with the festivals is staying hydrated all day while you camp out near the front... I'm gonna have to be prepared this year for soundgarden 8-)

although I assume arcade fire will split the crowd pretty evenly (bummed I'm missing them)

Reading '06 was incredible, I pretty much lost it when the first chords of Crown Of Thorns were played.

Has to be both Reading and Leeds 2006. Great setlists with 23 songs in leeds being the shortest of the 2. Also only 2 cover songs over the two shows which everybody knew (baba & rockin'). Compare them with the current festival setlist, which have short first sets and only one encore and the odd rubbish cover song thrown in.

Would either have to be Reading 06 or Bonnaroo 08, Lolla 07 was good, but i would definetly have to say, a step below Bonnaroo. Was chalked full of energy from the get-go though.

I must agree... considering these sets are fairly short due to it being a festival performance I'm not sure why each set has up to 3 covers when there are so many great songs not being played. The sets have a lot of great singalongs so why not add songs like Animal, In Hiding, Faithful, Smile and Indifference to make them even better. The fans would know them whereas I don't think many would be singing along to Arms Aloft or PIL.
