Regardless of how you feel about this album....

What do you think of the way it was recorded? The "Binaural" technique used by, I believe, Tchad Blake. Would you want PJ to use it again for any future studio albums?

I didn't really care for the whole binaural technique way of recording. I do think there are some songs on lost dogs that should have made the actual album though.
Still a good album overall though.

Thanks for posting the link - what a fantastic collection. I know these sort of things are out there, but it's always nice to be pointed in the right direction. :D

Binaural songs rock! (even if the album mix sucks!)

I love it. I love listening to music that was made specifically to listen to on headphones. That's why I love Binaural. Definitely a great change from what they were doing with Brendon O'Brien, which there is nothing wrong with the stuff they've done with him.

Yeah I agree. If you don't own top of the line headphones, don't even bother listening to it. Two different experiences. My boise headphones broke and I can't afford a new pair yet, let me tell you, music sucks through those earplugs 99% of people use.

My dad had a nice system that was old from the 80s and lasted over 20 years with great headphones. Too bad he still didn't have that system because I would be listening to Binaural on that. The system didn't have any life left in it. Still have the headphones! I have earplugs and regular headphones. I listen to Binaural on the headphones and that sounds great.

I have an iHome that has a 3D setting for listening and kind of tough to explain on here. My first time listening to Binaural on that setting was unbelievable!

I liked it. It was different. It has a bit more definition in the sound. I wouldn't mind if they did this more often.

  • You need to listen to it through a decent pair of headphones to really appreciate it.
