17 songs???? WOW!! Just another reason why i wouldn't watse my time at a Festival.
heh believe it or not most people dont go to a festival to see one band.
Yea, i know, but i what i meant: was, to see PEARL JAM at a festival.
I agree. 17 songs is brutal. Especially knowing that they generally play 25-30 songs. Sucks for the fans in Europe that most of the shows this summer are festivals...
it doesn't suck if fans know full well its gonna be short. after all it is a festival. honestly if i went to a festival pj was playing at i probably wouldnt be all that interested in getting a prime spot in the front for them or make it a point to see them . i'd go cause its a festival not to see a band that i know does their own tours.
i'm sure some elitist fan on here will say i'm not a "hardcore fan"
very short but sweet setlist
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Just back to hotel after tonights gig in Arras. came over from England, £60 for ticket, show was barely over an hour and a half and as you can see a festival broad appeal setlist devoid of anything in the way of rarities etc. They rocked and Eds voice fantastic . . . Just a bit disappointed with a pretty samey nature to the shows on this leg. Heres hoping for a dip into the wider catalogue when back in these parts. One other thing though-I did go in my spiderman suit today so hello to anyone who said hi!

The problem is that PJ hardly dour their own gigs in Europe anymore. There have been 3 this year, 5 last year, and 6 in 2007 (2 of which had 3 bands on before them). And honestly, this year has been a step back for PJ in terms of what they play for European fans. They played some really great sets in 2007 and 09 for their own gigs but the song selection has been really weak this year. I just don't get why they treat their fans here so differently.
I was just having a look in the fanviews thread and I had to move on because it made me laugh so much. The 'fans' who say "it was too short, I want some kind of explanation, I can't believe I spent so much money traveling to this show" need a good kick in the ass.
They are festival shows, and I don't think the festival promoters give a rat's ass if we're used to getting longer Pearl Jam shows. They have rules that every band, including Pearl Jam, has to follow. Maybe Pearl Jam wanted the chance to reach out to a few more less-than-hardcore fans and this is usually the best way to do it. 90 minutes of Pearl Jam is better than nothing at all.
And, if you were so determined to see a full length Pearl Jam show then why in the blue hell do you decide to pay all that money to go to a festival? If I go to a festival it's because there's more than one band I want to see. I'd never go just for Pearl Jam. You have to go with the understanding you'll be getting a shorter set. Obviously this year the festivals are being very strict with times and curfews.
And I think Europe has done very well for shows in the last four years. The band has more than made up for not coming here as often as we'd like.
2006 - we got 20 non-festival shows.
2007 - 5 non-festival shows I think
2009 - 5 shows
2010 - 3 non-festival shows
That's 33 shows in total. Not too shabby if you ask me.
2006: London Astoria, Lisbon I & II, Paris, Verona, Milano
2007: Wembley, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Nijmegen
2009: Manchester
2010: Belfast, Berlin
2012: Manchester I & II
2014: Leeds, Milton Keynes
2018: Amsterdam I, Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Barcelona, London 2022: Berlin, Budapest, Krakow, Amsterdam II

Well said. We went to 5 shows this year, 3 of those were the only PJ only shows on this tour... we made sure we got to them. The others? well, we knew they were festivals so didn't expect miracles of huge set lists and rare songs. People get very greedy when it comes to PJ, I think more people should appreciate that we're lucky we get any at all after the 6 year gap...
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
I'd kill to see Pearl Jam live again...Texas seems to have dried up on the jam lately.

But then I knew it would be. I don't think anyone should expect much else from the rest of this tour.
