First time going to one.
Do people normally give presents?

Can't go wrong with a scented candle.

  • I think a little gift is nice. Maybe something for their house like a nice plant or if all else fails, alcohol?!? :D

I am thinking a gift card from House.
It is a retail chain here that sells anything for your home.
    Mainly dishes and cuttlery.

  • The gift card sounds like a perfect gift, be sure to put it in a nice card filled with warm wishes for their life in their new home. We've just built a home and by the time you get to the decorating and such, you're broke. They've probably spent so much of their money on moving cost and the house that I bet they would appreciate a gift card so they can buy what they might really need for the house.
    Hearts and thoughts they fade....

The last one I went to...

Got my friends a REALLY nice bottle of wine. The place was packed, handed it to them, BS'd for a while, and they put it down on their counter of 10 other bottles that people brought them.

    So much for the effort!

    Thanks for the tips.
Just a thing, my friend and his girlfriend are only living there for 6 month then they will rent the house out to someone.
Would they need something for the house?

Just bring some liquor or wine then. That way it'll be gone by the time the party is over and you can drink half of it. :)
