By 1995 Pearl Jam was one of the biggest bands in the world. They'd released three highly-acclaimed and high-charting albums - Ten, Vs. And Vitalogy.

So it was no surprise that their first tour to Australia saw them sell-out massive venues in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth well in advance. The Seattle grunge heroes blew fans away with an epic performance at every show.

    Setlist
    1. Release
    2. Daughter
    3. Black
    4. Even flow
    5. I've got you (5 second cover of Split Enz)
    6. Better man
    7. Rockin' in the free world (Neil Young cover

They actually recorded the entire concert, broadcast live to air and then gave away 200 CDs to competition winners back in 95.

Shame trpileJ couldn't give Pearl Jam the steam off their piss these days. When was the last time they even played a PJ song..

I won the "Rarefied & Live" double CD that Sony pressed from that show. Still have it. It's my holy-grail.

Hopefully this means Triple J will play the new album more than just playing Got Some once!

I too won one of those prized CD's. Only 100 in the world and it's my holy grail too. I had front row centre at this gig, my first ever Pearl Jam show. I had hair down to my bum and recall the crowd surfer's come down off on to me and I lost alot of hair and ended up with a very sore neck. It was an awesome gig as was the one the following night where the fans broke the barriers to get into the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Classic

Release, Black, Rocking in the Free World (w Grohl on drums is amazing)

Also a pity JJJ sucks now and plays absolute crap nowadays. Youth of today are missing out!
I had it all once I gave it back

I picked up a copy of rarefied and live CD about 10 years ago at a recycled cd store near my house outer suburbs of Melbourne! didn't realize it was one of the giveaway prizes. Sound quality is amazing!!!! Along with a copy I have of 98 Melb show, these two are like Gold for me!! Great memories! :)
