mad men's music, really appeals to me. The golden oldies, 1950's, early 1960's music. I love the music because it reminds me of my grandpa whose favorite radio station is the oldies format.

What are some of the best "oldies" type music? Best music of the 1950's and early 1960s?

I think the 2 best musicians/bands of that time were Elvis and The Beatles. Everything else can take a backseat.

I personally like a lot of the Motown stuff, CCR, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Beach Boys. We have an Oldies station in Boston that I can usually listen to from time to time, but they have been playing the same hits for the last 15 years. Gets kinda old fast.

    Haha, get it......old.

I have to agree with youngster: Elvis, Beatles, and Motown for me. I also dig Buddy Holly.

I love the oldies/doo wop stuff. My parents listened to that a lot growing up.

My best friend in high school (in the early 90's) and I would listen to everything from grunge, classic rock, rap, etc., but a lot of summer nights were spent sitting outside, drinking a few beers and listening to the oldies that we were both raised listening to.

Everything... Buddy Holly, Bill Haley & the Comets, The Vogues, Ben E King, The Turtles, The Platters, Beach Boys, Elvis, Marvin Gaye, The Coasters, Frankie Valli, Otis Redding, Roy Orbison, so many great songs in the time frame.
