Ed in Jordan?
Sheryl Crow, Joan Baez, David Crosby, Carly Simon, Eddie Vedder to headline ‘Give Peace A Chance’ concert in Jordan
Saying they want Arabs, Farsis and Jews to “give peace a chance”, the cream of the crop of American music’s anti-war talent will travel to the Middle East to Jordan to perform a “Give Peace A Chance” concert to encourage the Muslims and Jews to lay aside their arms and live in harmony.
Scheduled to perform are Sheryl Crow, Joan Baez, David Crosby, Eddie Vedder, Arlo Guthrie, Julian Lennon and Rage Against the Machine.
Crow will probably perform while wearing a shirt like this with “War is not the answer” in Hebrew, Persian Farsi and Arabic
“We chose Jordan as a location for the concert because it’s one of the few places Americans can perform without having to worry about being shot, tortured or beheaded,” said Crow. “Iran’s far too volatile now, as is Iraq, and we won’t perform in Israel because of the way they have treated the Palestinians. The Israelis especially don’t understand that war is not the answer.”
Sixties antiwar icon Baez helped organize the event and is rumored to sing a duet with Crosby. Simon will sing “Give Peace A Chance” while Lennon will sing “Imagine”–the song his father made famous. Lennon is also rumored to do a sort of “bed-in” protest like his father did with Yoko Ono and will say he won’t get out of bed until Israel ends its blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Vedder is rumored to sing the Star Spangled Banner and add in vocal sound effects to mimic the bombs that Americans have dropped on innocent Iraqi civilians.
The singers are all learning the songs they’ll sing in the three languages in the region–Arabic, Hebrew and Persian Farsi. Interpreters will be available to translate into sub-dialects of each language.
“We felt the songs would make more sense if sung in the languages of the locals,” Crosby explained. “Otherwise, they’d just roll their eyes at the idea of English being sung.”
Jordan has agreed to give the performers safety while there but encourages them to finish the concert after a week. It is scheduled to take place in September in Amman.

Yeah, I was thinking of not posting this, Ed's part is odd, but we will know soon enough. Crow's comment sounds quite bitchy for someone who is offering piece too, would you put this in official statement?
Edited to add that I found it on Twitter and this link was what led me there: http://cli.gs/ZXbsZ
"Vedder is rumored to sing the Star Spangled Banner and add in vocal sound effects to mimic the bombs that Americans have dropped on innocent Iraqi civilians."
I mean - even if you're against the war, would you really sing the SSB and add in 'bomb vocal effects' to mimic Americans killing civilians?
That just doesn't add up... I'd guess he'd either do something like Masters of War or No More or something...
:P
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
sure seems so....and I'd just as soon have ed stay out of that part of the world on peace missions, wouldn't you? I mean...it hasn't turned out so well for others
i hope its not true
i know that ed, and we, are all for peace, but like you said the SBB w bombs dropping effects, that doesn't sound right...ya, Master of War I would have more readily believed
peace,

LOL!
Edit: ok so this probably is fake. It might as well be since this wouldn't change anything.

you really don't think the same man the supports the wm3 or was on the vfc 04tour would do a anti-war concert. wow you must be a new fan or something. ed would def do something like this. look at how vocal he's been bout the war in the middle east. hell he even wrote a cheesy song called bu$hleaguer bout a man that created this whole middle east mess.

When is your tour? You are a stand up comedian right? I'd like to catch a show sometime.
I saw Green River live before Pearl Jam was even a thought. I went to 7 Pearl Jam shows in 1991. Believe me co-cheese I know Ed's politics, I agree with everything he has said about the criminal war the US is involved in. I've never heard of Bu$hleager before thanks for pointing out a song my Riot Act cd didn't have on it  . And I've donated tme myself to help raise money for the West Memphis 3 so spare me the history lesson. Here is a link incase you'd like to show up and support a little. http://wm3.vox.com/library/post/warhous ... =feed-atom
Like I said Ed will not be attending but if you want to wait for it wholeheartedly go for it.
Soooo you think Ed is gonna go to Jordan and make bomb noises.
i'm not a jokester at all. ed would probably be more welcomed in jordon then our so called president. you know the same president who was all bout change and getting us out of iraq and the one ed so greatly gushed over and hasn't said a damn bad thing bout him. ed is a typical hollywood liberal. don't follow someone like that. i doubt ed or anyother typical hollywood liberal has ever been thrown in jail on mistake for doing a peaceful protest outside of the 04 rnc like i was.
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
are you being serious? try googling "john and yoko bed-in"...
I meant the whole show seems too corny to be real...p.s. I avoid seeing YoKo in or out of bed if possible.
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Obama is a good president. Not a great one yet but a good one. What does you having a police record got to do with Eddie Vedder's stance on political issues. Young tot you're not gaining points because you are talking to someone who is very involved in all levels of politics. I don't follow Eddie Vedder I agree with him on the things he has said about the war. But the topic was about weather he is doing this show.....seriously do you think that Ed is going to Jordan and singing the star spangled banner, that he has pre told he's singing, even down to the fact he WILL be making bomb noises into the mic? Come on dude think about it for a second.
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
That's right...I'm a 62 year old man with no teeth and I wear a diaper.
Anyway.....who finally PM'd you and said.....dude it's a sham Ed is not going to Jordan and making bomb noises stop making a fool of yourself?
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Edited to say that I checked website that I posted here, to see that it says in the heading that they are joking. I should learn not to skim-read, sorry.
I am dissapointed that I wan't hear Eddie imitating bombs over SSB.
