Butterflies before a PJ show.

I know I'm not alone here. It's odd I get all nervous and anxious. I guess it's because I know what is about to happen. Sort of like an out of body experience. For 2.5 hours I'm somewhere else. Not many things make me feel the way I do minutes before a PJ show.

Ask my wife, I am the worse! Nerves and anxiety will start about 2 days before a run/show, i become excited and irritable. If we are drving/flying, I try to run two to three hours early to curb any travel delays, and don't even get me started about arriving to the venue, opening band and the worst time for me, inbetwee opener and PJs set.

Oh yeah. Before every one I have been to I have had the most "nervous" feeling I have ever had. When I was at MSG 1 this year I was the most nervous ever becauseI had 2nd row behind the stage. It has been the closest I have ever been to PJ. I like getting nervous however because it makes the show amazing.

Yeah, it's just a weird feeling isn't it? I remember almost shitting my pants before my first Springsteen and PJ show.

I usually end up feeling physically Dick before a gig, especially GA shows Am I going to get a good spot, will I be able to see, is there going to be any trouble with the queues??

So I'm not normally the most sociable on show days! Although once I'm in there and have secured a spot I
I usually start to calm down!

I was so stoked about my first time 10c seats at msg 2 and between getting there and being a part of night 1 and how great that was and eating all the bad food on the long weekend vacation as soon as Band of Horses started..... I went back to the bathroom for the 3rd time and destroyed it for the second time inabout 15 minutes...
Too much information, I know but KevDylan started it

They have only played in Scotland twice so I always had to travel to Europe/England to see them.I have been to thousands of other bands concerts but none compare to the the way I feel days, sometimes weeks before a Pearl Jam gig.I would be a jangle of nerves, edgy and restless I need to be at the venue real early, get my spot and don't move from it.
As soon as they walk on stage I feel as though I am floating above the crowd the euphoria is like nothing I can experience with anything else.

We all deal with nerves in our own way, I guess.

Ha ha, took a while for someone to pick up on that one!

I was going to edit it to 'sick' straight away, but thought it would be more amusing to leave it! ;)

  • Omg I am the worst.....over 40 shows and a nervous wreck before every single one. I had a routine before every show.....almost OCD -ISH and rather not explain but I know the feeling.

I was a complete wreck before the MSG shows, but it's the best feeling! I love all the excitement building up in you- you know right before a PJ show you're in for an amazing 2 hours & change, and you just can't help but have intense butterflies in your stomach!

I don't get "nervous", but at the first '06 Chicago show the people I was with were dicking around. They wanted to go to the restroom before the show, then we waited in line for beers for like 15 minutes.

I knew they were taking the stage at any moment and the line was going slooooooooow. The second we paid for the beer, the lights went off and the crowd went nuts! I was PISSED!!!

Didn't get to our seats on the floor until the first song (Release) was pretty much over. :(
