European Sonics 2010

I'd be interested to read and hear about some of the special songs, shows, moments and sounds emerging from the current tour [overall] - you don't necessarily have to say how they reached your ears! (in-person show, bootleg, official bootleg, youtube etc)
I'm hoping to review some of Dublin later today - but I think we have to spread the duties!!

I got a bit emotional during Black and Rearviewmirror in Belfast as both those songs mean a lot to me, but I saw this tough looking guy with a shaved head crying his eyes out to Rearviewmirror as well.

Let me guess...... a charming greek??
You're the man with the plan dimi!
On the instrumental jams - I'm not generally a big fan of instrumental music, give me a 2 minute song with decent words and singing and not much else & I'm happy (6 minutes and I'm 3 times happier)! there's a few bands that can sneak them in under my radar (only a few!!). This last set of 2009 / 2010 boots tho, I've really got into the jams on porch and evenflow etc, and been able to follow where they are going - and I'm not being disappointed! I'll listen out for Venice. The band are seriously f'in tight these days - I've said this before and I still believe it - I think this is the best vintage of pearl jam there has ever been - when taken in the round with the playing, the songs, the live material , the crowd and band interactions, the singing. I still think ed can sing as if his life depends on it, even tho his voice has changed - and that he is a better singer actually, because he knows how to use it in many ways, and can slip into the background of crowd and band more easily these days, without compromising the song - hard for someone with such a legendary set of pipes!! I was listening to his vocals on 'against the 70s' the other day and thinking how I enjoyed it a lot more than when it first came out - when I was disappointed he didn't do the full-on 'operatics' he was kind of known for in the day. I digress......but I will go out on a limb here and say I reckon Ed is now amongst the top 4 or 5 singers ever recorded - the emotional range of his singing, the evocation and the inflections... are exemplary - A* ✔✔
Where am I going with this dimi? oh yeah - I dig the instrumentals, honest! hehe. The only standalone instrumentals by other bands I can take are 'any colour you like' by the floyd, and orion and live is to die by metallica!!
think it's time for bed. will listen out for more inspiring moments to come - there are plenty to hear in the london boot!
