Cha Cha and Pearl Jam

So, I was at lunch today and one of my coworkers was talking about this service that is free on your phone. You text "cha cha" (242242) on your phone and it works just like google- ask it a question and someone answers you within about 30 seconds to a minute. I tried telling her that it was automated, and she assured me that it was someone actually typing it back. So we tried it out.

I asked her to type in the question: "What was Pearl Jam's name before they were called Pearl Jam"

The answer was "Mother Love Bone"

I of course told the table that this was wrong and why. So then I texted the question on my phone and they replied with: "Mookie Blaylock." They then went into a little detail about MLB too. I then texted them and asked them if this was a real person and they replied that they were and this was their work-at-home job. For every text they send out, they get 20 cents. They told me to go to chacha.com for employment.

I thought it was kind of cool and I just wanted to share with you guys.

Ah, yeah. I just applied. Since I own a business, I need all the extra cash I can get. LOL
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

I think you may be assuming that I am smart enough to get hired. I am going to let this thread die, in case I am rejected. LOL

In case you were not assuming I am smart enough to get hired, I take back my post. :)

If we do it, we might be able to save money to fly to shows, so that we don't have to beg for closer ones!!!

  • And the test was stupid. It made me feel stupid. Not worth it AT ALL. How can you be faster than a normal human being when it comes to finding answers and typing them??

  • My wife does it, she failed the test once right after the Firefox 3.0 'upgrade' slowed her internet... So they let her transcribe instead, she converts voice calls into text for people to search.

You can just do it whenever, as much as you want, so it's convenient in that respect.
I mean I dare you to sing "Black" and not feel it.

I've tried to phone in "Jeremy" a few times, and it's tough.

on average, how much does she make? I'm assuming she does it from her computer. Do you set your own hours- the same hours each week?

  • She doesn't make as much since she failed the search test, and she just transcribes. She makes 4 cents per search instead of 20 for the searchers. She doesn't do it a lot, she's only done about 3 hours, and made 15 bucks, plus 25 from contests which they do randomly.

She has friends who search and make between 100-200 a week, up to $8 an hour if it's busy.

I just signed up to search, and I'll be doing it a lot in the next week to help pay for my EV Tix!!! so I'll have first hand testimony in about a week.

Edit: And there's no set hours. When you apply they ask when you would do it, but they don't hold you to it. There is no schedule at all, you can do 5 minutes here, 2 hours there, whatever.

So, I took the tests. I failed!!! I think I messed up on the questions where they give you an example of questions that might be asked--I chose too many of the "need more information".

I type like a madwoman, and was able to answer all of the research questions without looking elsewhere. Ah, well...glad the pit isn't that picky. LOL

I've read quite a few posts about people who work at ChaCha. There are people who sit literally all day and night to grab up the questions before most people can. Furthermore, there has been a pay decrease from 20 cents to 10 cents unless you are able to get above 300 questions a week. A lot of the questions you'll receive will be immature ones (penis OLOLOL) too. You usually end up making a sum that wasn't worth the time and effort you put into it. Its a neat service to use, but a poor one to work for.

Apparently a lot of men are curious about the average, ahem, length, of the, ah, average man...
