the passing

nearing the year mark of your sickness
how fast it took you
still hard to believe you are gone
I sometimes convince myself
that you are still here
I see a photo with your smiling face
and my eyes become cloudy
and my vision instantly blurs
on occasion I still speak your name
I just need to hear the syllables roll off my tongue
you were so brave
so strong and fought so hard
and I hope you know that you were loved
my life better for having had you in it
my heart heavy now that you no longer are
I miss you
with all of my being
the best friend anyone could ever hope to have
and I feel your absence every single day
but also still sense your presence
a duality of emotions existing within me
fighting for control

I sometimes speak your name aloud,
just to feel normal again
I love you.
we all do.
Peace, Love.
