Moving to the Charlotte area

I'm a Pittsburgh guy who has lived in Naples Florida for the past 13 years and now I'm making a move to Mooresvill NC.
I am sick of Floridas HOT summers and a job just fell into my lap in NC, but.....

I have never been to the area (just for my job interview) and have no idea what Charlotte's all about.
I'm a mid thirties guy that loves the outdoors,sports (nascar is ok) and music-of course

Any info from the board will be helpful :D thanx

    First tip: it is spelled "Charlotte" :D

    I lived in Charlotte for three years and although i did not enjoy it much It is a nice city with a lot of things to offer.

    It is big but not super big like Atlanta. Lots of good food choices.
    If you think you are escapeing the heat I'm sorry it is very hot in The Queen City too.
    downtown is very nice area.

    Now i don't know what the hip bars are now but I used to love to go to Thomas Street Pub. They have/or had two ping pong tables outside you could play for free. Good beer on tap and good prices.

    Smokey Joes was another little spot i went to a lot. tuesdays back then was open mic night and i had some good times there.

    It is a banking town and many people work for one of the banks, but you'll have the mountains just a couple hours away so if you like the outdoors its great. Some good hiking and camping spots.

    Charlotte is a cool city. It is not far from the mountains if you are into that. Wilmington and the beach are only 4 hours away.
