seas of cheese is an awesome album- that is where I started.
Also The Brown Album is really good.
After that I just have single songs.
Some good songs to try:
too many puppies
wynonas big brown beaver
southbound patchyderm
my name is mud.
shake hands with beef
over the falls
Hope this helps even though I know my primus list is weak.Post edited by red mos onPJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

Definitely start with Frizzle Fry and Suck On This. These are the f*ckin best.0

Start with seas of cheese, then frizzle fry, then pork soda, and then the rest in order until their latest.
Off the tip of my head, I think I like pork soda the best, and then punchbowl.5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10

I often consider Primus to be my 2nd favorite band behind PJ, so when I saw this I felt obligated to reply. I don't really advise this w/ most bands but work through their discography in order of release. You can skip Miscellaneous Debris & Rhinoplasty until the end b/c those 2 are basically cover albums... well EP's really.
Anyway... you can listen to Suck on This anywhere in there... I'd recommend AFTER Frizzle Fry... Suck on This is a live album... and a very good one at that.
Frizzle Fry
Seas of Cheese
Pork Soda
Punch Bowl
Brown Album
Anti-Pop
Animals
If you enjoy those go out and find a copy of these 2 albums:
Riddles are Abound Tonight by Sausage... this album is Primus with it's original lineup, they got back together and did a one off album in 94 and it's pretty good... Jay Lane on Drums and Todd Huth on Guitar... they left the band before they actually recorded anything w/ Les.
Les Claypool & The Holy Mackeral: Highball with the Devil... This is Les's first Solo record and it's a little different than Primus in terms of style... it's also different from his later solo releases. A personal favorite of mine on this album is Hendershot.
You should get ahold of Les Claypool's solo albums as well.
Don't listen to the naysayers, Primus is a great band... they're fun, hilarious and always interesting.0 -

buy all of their albums, put them on your mp3 playing thingy, and set it to play all of their songs in a random order.
it really doesn't matter, except don't start with the brown album - its not bad, but not great either. can't wait to see them next month!0 -
