Where to start with Primus?

Hi friends. I'm trying to get into Primus but I'm not really sure where to start...can anybody help me out?
The oceans made me, but who came up with love?

Also The Brown Album is really good.
After that I just have single songs.
Some good songs to try:
too many puppies
wynonas big brown beaver
southbound patchyderm
my name is mud.
shake hands with beef
over the falls
Hope this helps even though I know my primus list is weak.

Yea I think you're right. I would say Primus is an aquired taste. I only like a few songs, mainly the hits. How do you feel about Claypools other projects?

All kick ass. All great jumpoff points.

Madison Square Garden 6/25/08
Off the tip of my head, I think I like pork soda the best, and then punchbowl.
8/7/08, 6/9/09
i saw frog brigade back in 2000. pretty good show, ranks up there on my list. they did a killer cover of tomorrow never knows by the beatles.
Anyway... you can listen to Suck on This anywhere in there... I'd recommend AFTER Frizzle Fry... Suck on This is a live album... and a very good one at that.
Frizzle Fry
Seas of Cheese
Pork Soda
Punch Bowl
Brown Album
Anti-Pop
Animals
If you enjoy those go out and find a copy of these 2 albums:
Riddles are Abound Tonight by Sausage... this album is Primus with it's original lineup, they got back together and did a one off album in 94 and it's pretty good... Jay Lane on Drums and Todd Huth on Guitar... they left the band before they actually recorded anything w/ Les.
Les Claypool & The Holy Mackeral: Highball with the Devil... This is Les's first Solo record and it's a little different than Primus in terms of style... it's also different from his later solo releases. A personal favorite of mine on this album is Hendershot.
You should get ahold of Les Claypool's solo albums as well.
Don't listen to the naysayers, Primus is a great band... they're fun, hilarious and always interesting.
yeah, these two albums are fucking awesome. lol, i completely forgot about them. i've gotta go dig them out, now. and that also reminds me to get oysterhead out, too.
my personal favorite off highball is delicate tendrils.
it really doesn't matter, except don't start with the brown album - its not bad, but not great either. can't wait to see them next month!
