Why is Eddie playing at such small venues?

I know this show wouldn't work in a big arena, but how about venues that hold five to seven thousand. These venues that hold two thousand are just not big enough for the high demand. I just don't get it. Take Boston for example. Instead of the Opera House, 2,500 seats, why not the Orpheum and 5,000 seats?
The smallest oceans, still get....
big, big, waves.
big, big, waves.

Sometimes, folks just get left out of things, and them's the breaks.
for the least they could possibly do
What the hell does this mean? What does one have to do with the other?
And do you really have to ask why Ed wouldn't want people taking pictures during the entire show? YouTube some Vic performances and you'll see.
for the least they could possibly do
2 things on this.
First the Orpheum holds 5,000 - I think it might be less then 3,000.
I also believe the Orpheum doesn't have concerts in June-August since there is no AC. I saw the stones there about 6-7 years ago on one of those hot September days and the place was a sauna......
SHOW COUNT: (164) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=108, US=118, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5
Mexico=1, Colombia=1
Maybe he could have considered BoA Pavilion, but I doubt he'd sell out 2 nights there, so promoters would have only set up for a single night and a similar number of tix would have been available as 2 at the Opera House.
He really goes out of his way to alienate fans.

I actually saw a hotter (temperature wise)show there many years ago in July, before they basically started shuttering the place in summer. Luckily it was Penn and Teller and we could stay seated and fairly motionless, and I still sweated my ass off.
Plus you lose the intamacy factor at Harbor Lights

Just look at the stage set up for the west coast solo shows...It's almost set up like someone's basement...These are intimate performances and very special ones at that.
I can't help but think that Eddie is keeping this low key and intimate for a reason; perhaps there will be a future release of these performances down the road either on DVD or a CD.
Demand for these shows is obviously going to be greater than the average show because there are only a select few shows being played in very select locations this tour.
For now...we're just going to have to accept the fact that this isn't your regular Eddie or Pearl Jam type tour. There are alot of us going for the same piece of pie here and there is a good chance that there will be many of us that come out on the losing end.
Later
.
I tried to explain. Oh, somehow.
tell that to Dylan
mmmmm,,,pie.........
I couldn't agree more. well said.

my guess is that every venue on this tour does not allow drinks into the performance room...there's 1 good reason for not booking the larger venues
jack johnson pulls it off quite well...and i believe that we all have seen eddie do it a song or two here and there.

SWEET!! i have never been to the opera house but i have a dress circle seat for night I !!
Nice! I saw Death Cab there from the Dress Circle and loved it! I am pretty sure there are only about 4-6 rows in the dress circle. Plus, the seats (as I am sure they are all through the Opera House) are super comfortable. Great for what I understand will be a sit down show. Your view will great and the sound is fantastic up there as well. Congrats!

thanks man! you just made me long for Aug 1st even more
how's the 420 situation @ the opera house?people fire up in there or no?being such a small place i'm thinking it's a no.(but i had to ask)
Yeah, that probably won't happen. Seems pretty strict with security. You can bring drinks to your seat though, which is better than half the shows at the Orpheum. Best bet, prepare some baked good to cure that fix.

Holds about 11,000 people.. cost to rent the venue for one night including all their union folks is maximum 160,000.00. A true bonus is that they do their own ticketing, not TM/Live Nation, etc...
I'd love to see a fan club only PJ show there. I bet Ed could fill it by himself no problem, especially considering he filled 2 nights at a 4k venue in the blink of an eye. Don't get me wrong, I love the little venues, but I feel bad when people who really want to go are getting shut out by scalpers or just plain limited availability.
Peace
But it would be ok at the bigger ones?
the kind of show ed is playing, it NEEDS a small venue. period. i am so thankful he is playing such beautiful and small places. sure, it limits ticket availability, but so it goes...
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
