nope, though minor earthquakes can happen
There are reports of unusual ground shaking in various parts of Ontario and Quebec, including Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. The Toronto newsroom of The Globe and Mail shook just before 1:45 p.m. EDT. The Ottawa newsroom was evacuated at about 1:43 p.m.
Various reports on Twitter suggest the earthquake was felt as far away as Ohio, New York and Michigan. A Globe reporter in Montreal said that city also shook.
The earthquake shook buildings in Ottawa, where the streets are crowded with office workers who evacuated their workplaces.
“We felt the building shake. It was actually it was pretty serious. It was definitely the strongest quake that I ever felt,” said Dennis Choquette, a Globe and Mail online editor based in Ottawa.
The shaking lasted about 15 seconds, Mr. Choquette said.
The severity of the earthquake is not yet known. It is not yet known whether there have been any reports of injuries.

last one i remember (and i remember it well) was in 2002. epicenter of that one was in plattsburgh, ny and had a magnitude of 5.9 and was felt as far south as pennsylvania.
It's strange because earthquake was the last thing I thought it was.
yeah, that one in '02 had me scratching my head a bit at first. i was actually sleeping in, and i woke up because i heard the handles on the dresser shaking. at first i thought a very large truck was driving by the house...but the shaking was going on too long for it to be a truck. so i got up and went into the living room. it was still shaking, and my wife had a scared look on her face. she looks at me and says "what the hell's going on??" i said "i don't know....i wonder if we're having an earthquake." it was pretty funny, all the cars on the street that had car alarms on them were blaring.
good times
That must have been extremely wierd... atleast it sounds it to me...

well i didn't think it was weird at first, but when it didn't stop i was all like "woah, that ain't no truck." after i had a minute or 2 to think about it, i thought it was pretty cool...and hoping nobody got hurt at the same time.
a lot of people i work with said they didn't feel it, either. my guess is that unless you were pretty much not moving when it happened, you didn't feel it.
The U.S. Geological Survey has reported that a 5.5 earthquake, centered in Quebec, Canada, occurred today at around 1:45 p.m. Local media have reported that the earthquake was felt in the Greater Boston area, and some staff felt shaking.
It didn't shake me out of the coma I was briefly in during a long meeting in a semidark auditorium.
:P
lol, ain't my first, norm.
Ahh yip!! We have a big fault line running right down the middle of our country. Have earthquakes quite often. The worst is when you are asleep and you get jolted awake and feel all disorientated, by the time I've run to the kids rooms it has usually stopped. Haven't had a big one for a while (touch wood) though have seen cars bouncing on the roads before
wow..i didn't know about that.

But, we were right on top of the epicenter, and that was a new feeling.
It was more of a sudden concentratrated burst than a long drawn out wave, made a 3.5 feel a little more powerful than it should (had glasses rattling). A little different experience for me.
