I'm quite literally a life-long fan of The Who, David Bowie, and Queen. As in, I was two or three years old and dancing around to them. I colored all the guitars on the "Who By Numbers" album cover. I was in eighth grade when "Under Pressure" came out, and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. That still ranks on my list of top ten songs. :)

I also really enjoy most 60's music -- psychedelic, Motown, you name it.

Nobody asked about least favorite acts, but let's just say that since I moved out of my parents house 25 years ago, I have made my life a Michael Jackson-free zone. Being subjected to "Thriller" in its entirety every day will do that to a person.

A bit surprised I haven't seen him on any lists here, but besides Pearl Jam, one of very few artists I can listen to constantly, and never get tired of - is Tom Waits. I'd probably see him over Pearl Jam, just because I've been longing to for so long.

    Other favourites:

    Radiohead
    The Band
    Bob Dylan
    Neil Young
    Beck
    Bob Marley & the Wailers
    Bruce Springsteen
    James Taylor
    Velvet Underground
    Band of Horses
    The Beatles
    Led Zeppelin
    The Rolling Stones
    Oscar Peterson
    Flying Burrito Brothers

But really... the list is endless.

As weird as this probably sounds, ZBB reminds me of a cross between Alabama and the Grateful Dead. I saw them last year in Nashville and want to catch them again pretty soon. I missed them when they came to Birmingham two weeks ago, but I heard they did a four hour set!

Yeah it's four hours!! The show we saw, which I think would've been the night before the birmingham show if I remember correctly, it came one hell of a thunderstorm that postponed the start from 7 to 8 since it was on Mud Island.
ZBB is on stage the entire time and they intermingle their guests with their own songs throughout the show...duets and coool stuff in there. Really an enjoyable show....you don't get a chance to get tired of some subpar opening act.
And your just about right with your Alabama/Grateful Dead idea....they're definitely country but in a very jam band-y sort of way. Of course there's some Jimmy Buffett thrown in there....also remind me a good bit of what The Band did and not just because they cover several of their songs.
These guys are going good places.
And if you haven't checked it out you need to watch "Pass the Jar" dvd....that will pretty much give you an idea of what to expect at a show nowadays
