If you're one of the people that think the ticket price is too high at the Roo, you could always take the volunteering route. Of course you are taking the chance of missing some of the bands that you want to see- including PJ- but you might get lucky and get the pre-festival work or soemthing like that.

Bonnaroo is suppose to be announcing the volunteer program soon- I'm sure pretty soon after the tickets go on sale. I know a few people that have volunteered before at Bonnaroo and they loved it.

  • how exactly do they make sure youre doing your volunteer work once you get inside? couldnt you just sign up, get in, and then blow off whatever they ask you to do and just watch the music?

From what I understand from other festivals, if you have a single day shift, when you're finished you get a piece of paper signed by your work boss- which basically says you get your down payment back on your credit card- usually the cost of a ticket. If you end up working multiple shifts- usually min 18 hours, after each shift you get your paper signed- and you get your down payment back.

So, do you get to choose what you want to do when you volunteer?

I think you are assigned jobs. The longer you have volunteered the better job you get.

that's what I thought. some festivals you get to choose, others you don't. Imagine getting stuck with clean-up duty following a large festival like the Roo- wow that would suck
