To me, it sounds like "Marker in the Sand" with a part of "Porch" stuck in the middle with an "Army Reserve" ending. So to me, it totally sounds like Avocado era. I think they had Porch in mind when doing the music to Severed Hand. It's not like Better Days where there's a lot of debate as to its origins. This one totally sounds Avocado.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Does anyone else hear "On the edge, on the edge/Of the earth, of the earth" the first time they hit the "chorus"?

Posted this in the Given to Fly section, but I was saying how I was wondering when they'd break out a new jam session like Rearviewmirror..where the boys huddle up and let it rip. Looks like this could be the one and I really hope it is. Loved it. Kind of thought it had pieces of PJ through all the years. Heard a little bit of a Deep vibe in there I thinK!

Anyway..loved loved loved loved loved it! Lucky Dublin'ers!

    Same here.

This is a truly great tune!
Nice to see a "newer" tune that actually gives McCready a nice long solo/jam!

I look forward to hearing more of this!

I can't say that because I love Backspacer, but the more I listen to it the better it gets. Backspacer was a lighter album and this song is very dark if that's your sort of thing.

It's amazing how one song can blow away all of Backspacer.

Prediction: This will become a bathroom break song for most of you that are high on the song now.

Badly needs a new solo style. More of the same.

Here's a video of this song from the front row from someone who didn't stand in the back taping the whole show (apologies for the crowd surfers, but the energy was good during the song even though nobody knew what it was):

Reminded me of Present Tense. Not the way it sounded per se, but the song structure. Slow verses, uptempo middle part on the solo, then back to the earlier part. Kinda builds and then ends mellow again.

Yeah, it's an ok song, but nothing new or special. I think people just like that it's darker than anything on Backspacer.

They played it yesterday at Hyde Park and the song really kick ass live !!! Eddie said that if people liked it this will be in the next album , so we should have a studio version of the song coming out at some point...

I think that this is a really good song that didn't have it's place in Backspacer..it sounds really different not better not worse just different so think was a good thing to not include it in this album and personally if they go in this direction for the new album whenever it will be released I will be more than pleased.... bring the big riffs and the guitar solos back guys !!
