Can anybody who was there describe it?!?
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

"One is called 'Of the Earth,' that's a song Ed wrote that is kind of a cross between early Peter Gabriel/ Genesis and Sleater-Kinney with, like, the Who's Live at Leeds or something. There's also a song that Stone brought in that Ed wrote some great lyrics to [a song] called 'Parachutes.' That's probably one of my favorite pieces of music that Stone has written in a long time. It's got a beautiful melody."

Someone from the show mentioned that Ed said the song was so new it was barely a song yet..
  • They're playing it every other song on Pearl Jam Radio...it's Christmas come early!!!!

(Or at least I've just heard it twice with Inside Job from Grand Rapids in between)

It could be that they're using the name from the Avocado Outtake for a new song... or it could have been Ed just saying that to the crowd... who knows. All I know is that the song title was mentioned in an old article about songs they were working on for the self-titled record.

Theres a pic of the actual setlist from the setlist relay thread, and the song was written on the sheet as Of the Earth with an arrow pointing to it saying NEW. I get what youre saying though that maybe they just used the name of the old song for this one. Oh man with Betterdays leaked recently, and now this! Can only imagine what other surprises are coming.

Maybe they were reworking it? Hopefully an EP soon!

If I had to describe it, I would say it is a hybrid of Marker in the Sand, Inside Job and a little present tense.

Well..holy cr@p. Love the new song! Great...great...great jam spot in the middle. I've been wondering when they were going to break out a new jam section ala Rearviewmirror where all the boys huddle up and let it rip. Looks like this is the one.

Did not really like it too much. A bit raw in my opinion.

I really hear Marker, with a Porch Jam in the middle, and an Army Reserve or Inside Job ending.

I saw they had a clean (Ripped from PJ Radio?) version on Antiquiet.com.

    Great video!!!!!

Ed broke a string at some point. I love the outro, though - should be interesting to see how that goes with all 6 strings intact :)

Great song. Full sound. Will play out nicely on an album; and even more so when it's fully developed live.
