I know plenty of people found Audioslave underwhelming, but they did write some good stuff, and I think Wide Awake has to be one of their best. Awesome bass line throughout the song, some truly scathing lyrics and one of Cornell's best vocal performances in years. Anyone else a fan?

    Of course ;)

All their stuff is great. His Swedish version of this show is great, the screaming at the end is briliant too :D

I would love to have heard a full band live version of it too, it does rock acoustic too though!

I always thought this was an amazing song. To me, it seemed like they were just going thru the motions in that last album. There was very little emotion in songs, except for Wide Awake. It was definatley the stand out song.
I liked Audioslave but didn't love them but, Cornell wrote some pretty amazing songs while with them. I've always said I would put Last Remaining Light up there with anything he's written.

Yeah Last Remaining Light is a great song. I think at times they struggled to sound like a band in their own right, rather than Chris singing over the top of RATM songs (which in itself didn't sound awful to be fair). But songs like Shadow On The Sun, #1 Zero, Yesterday To Tomorrow, I am The Highway and others - all very good stuff that transcended their previous bands' output.

I make random mixes for my car every week and I put this on the last one. Forgot how awesome this song is.

Until We Fall - another great song, his voice really improved from the second album to the third.

Agree, they had some songs that were really pretty great, but for the most part they were kind of a cookie cutter rock song-type of band, which was unfortunate given the amount of talent they all had/have. What I mean is, it would have been so much more interesting to see them experiment a la Last Remaining Light (excellent song), #1 Zero, etc.

Having said that, I never fully understood why people bad mouthed the fact that their first album (which rocks like a motherf'er) sounded like Rage plus Cornell....how the F is that a bad thing? A kick ass band like Rage with one of the best rock voices ever? I could never understand the bickering about this band; they made simple rock songs and pulled them off pretty damn well live and they had fun doing it. Yeah SG was 1000x better, but damn be grateful that the guys were still making music, especially compared to a lot of the mainstream shit out there these days. Ah I'll stop the rant now, this actually makes me want to throw Revelations in the player...

Audioslave was a great band when you consider that they were doomed to fail from the beginning. I remember they started a fan club and I had a great #. I would have probably had front row seats any time I saw them. Too bad they never played a show after that though.

My wife decided to join the fanclub, Audioslavd, as well. She got the first newsletter, then they split. Kind of funny. $25 gone. Morello gave free tickets to his Nightwatchman show for those who joined, but not really the same thing.
