Just to answer the OP. MJ has a big solo hit with the the theme to the the movie Ben in 1972. I am pretty sure that is the refernece.

MJ made a song for the movie Ben. There was also a remake of the movie w. Chrispin Glover in the lead that tanked under 10 years ago. I believe the original Ben song from Jacko went up for an acadamy award. It was a big song at the time.

It was Atlanta fox theater and I definitely still have it on cassette. Have since found a digital copy though

Actually, not to split hairs, he *did* write Bad and not Man in the Mirror. Various artists - from Quincy Jones to Paul McCartney - commented on his writing ability...

Listen to Rats from Atlanta 1994, Eddie throws in a "Michael Jackson is innocent", at the end. This was around the time of the first allegation against Michael Jackson.
