Bonnaroo Traffic

When is the best time to arrive? My wife and I can't get up there until around 8-9 PM on Thursday night. Does the traffic usually die down by then or will it still be backed up?

Anyone know?

Yeah, sorry, we haven't talked in awhile. Since they announced the tour, I've decided to do WPB too- which the the Wed night before Roo. The plan is to leave South Florida around 6 AM- and then there is a 14 hour drive.

I haven't witnessed, but from what I read on the inforoo board you should be okay. I think the heavy traffic is in the am and afternoon. You may end up in a land far away.

Hope you have plenty of light to set up your tent. 8).

It depends which entrance you use. My first year ('05) we used the first entrance (coming from the north-west of Manchester) and waited about 45 minutes at 6 pmish. The next year we took the second entrance at 9pmish and waited about an hour-and-a-half...we got lucky both times avoiding traffic...expect to be in campsites about a 15-30 minute walk (depending on your pace) from the actual concert grounds.

15-30 min walk isn't too bad

you should be all right coming in at that time

last year was the first time they officially announced Thursday as part of the weekend...so since then many have started to come earlier...before that Thursday's festivities were known only to the vets

2005 arrived at 8 pm thursday night...waited in line for almost 3 hours, drove maybe 2 miles the entire time

2006 arrived at 6 am thurday morning...waited in line for less than an hour

2007 arrived at 6 am thursday morning...waited in line for close to 7 hours...on the interstate

so you should be alright...just rest up and plan for the worst, once your inside everything is magical...set up your tent, crack open a beer and wander around the site

anywhere from a 2 minute walk to 45 at the most
