Other than Pearl Jam, I generally have The Black Keys and My Morning Jacket on heavy rotation.

And for something completely diffeerent, check out The Wood Brothers - in particular, the album "Loaded."

    All of these.

Also check out The National, Dr. Dog, The Decemberists, Spoon, Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Horses, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Mars Volta and the Drive-By Truckers. All great stuff.

    Drive-By Truckers.

Incredible band. Took me too long to appreciate them, but now, they're amongst my three favorite bands.

And, just because I'm an obsessive fan like I am with Pearl Jam, I'm going to recommend The Black Crowes...cosmic rock n' roll.....so smooth....so good. 8-)

That's one album that I have been searching for and can't find ANYWHERE. Looks like I'll have to resort to amazon for the hard-copy.

I've heard it though - It's simply amazing. Chris can really sing his ass off, and his covering of Plant shows that, most notably "Nobody's Fault But Mine"... :o8-)

assuming you are of age to go to local clubs, i'd go there first. and/or pick some bands that are going to be playing locally to you and work on them.

Gaslight Anthem - though their newest album doesn't sound nearly as good as their first two. They've gotten progressively softer/poppier with each release, but their first two albums rock.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

You should check out the reverbnation website.Mark the genre you are interested in and a huge range of new music comes up ... most bands are independent ... unsigned ... but it is a fantastic site for hearing completely new music by new bands.

    YES!
An old friend of mine's band is doing really well on that site. They have nearly 30k fans, and I'm pretty sure they've made the top 20 on the metal charts there a couple times...he's also a super talented tattoo artist working out of Hollywood. Check 'em out:
