(Part I)

Retarded fern boy
green so much
every bit lacing within
wrapped up in roots
similar to the raining sky.

Raining
canopy shelter
my only rooftop cathedral
flying squirrels
all day.

In some ways
sword ferns really are starflowers
but they defend
against mountain lions.

The birds everywhere
are after my attention
each one an actor to me
and trees.

For a moment
I became smoke signals
lighting my pipe.

Another crow
says good morning, hello.

For some reason
I see him as a messenger
with the sky
rolling by.

A sudden ground feather
caught my eyes
and attention
became my hands and feet.

I cannot tell you anymore.
