am I the only one that doesn't get this concept? who wants to watch TV in 3-D? I can understand a movie or two, but TV just doesn't make sense...especially sports (unless you're on some kind of drugs at the time. that could be cool).

also, having to wear those stupid 3-D glasses would get old after 2 minutes.

maybe someone can enlighten me

i pretty much agree. to have to put on special glasses everytime to watch tv...i don't think so tim. plus the cost is crazy.

now what would be cool is if they made it 3d with a headset for a video game so that when you look left, it looks left. but then you would need surround tv.

I don't get it at all either...

Even 3D movies... ya, it's cool, but you can still tell it's a 3D movie. It's not like you're watching it and you really think it's happening where you are. Maybe in the future it might be different...

And for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would want to sit on their couch wearing glasses the whole time. Besides a movie, most of the time that I'm watching TV, I'm doing other stuff (internet, playing with my son or dogs, cleaning up the house, etc). Why would I want to wear glasses the whole time just so I can see The Office in 3D.

They still haven't implemented HD to all of the stations yet. 3-D will be niche market.

However, I can't wait to get the new Nintendo 3DS. You don't need glasses and early reports say it works great.

    Not happening in my household

My cat would probably freak if I wore those stupid glasses

I agree, we should all go back to black and white tvs without remote controls and also stop using the internet.

this is one step in video entertainment that i will not be taking. at least until i have no choice.

Yeah, 5 years from now, we might be 4 generations of 3D down the road, and things might be better/more convenient/cheaper, but I'm gonna sit this one out for a while.

I don't even do HD. I just don't care about it and I'm pretty techy. I typically watch documentaries and 30min sitcom type shows. I don't really need Kramer jumping out in my living room during Seinfeld reruns..

oh man, you are missing out without HD. watching TV without HD is like having sex with a condom on...I'll do it, but I don't have to like it.

I agree.. and documentaries in HD... the nature ones are absolutely incredible.

I honestly could care less for network TV shows being in HD, but sports and nature/discovery shows are amazing... it's like night and day (or sex with and without a condom :))

I have a friend who doesn't like watching blu-ray because, and I quote, "it looks too real". :?

I thought Avatar was cool in 3D, but it's not something I'm going to run out and buy a new TV over just yet..

I really beleive some older movies are ruined by HD, or bluray...
Edward Scissorhands was one of them. I could see the makeup too much!

However, all the movies made from here on out will have HD in mind and should be OK.

Im not really looking forward to the 3d step. Im a long way off from accepting this.... like someone said: years down the road, and a few generations.

I do think 3d video games may have some potential.... especially since Sony and Microsoft are rolling out some motion control gaming.

Avatar was cool for a novelty. half way through the movie the glasses hurt my face and my eyes/head felt tired by the end of the movie.

I don't get a 40" 3D tv. It's too small. The areas around the edges are all messed up because part of the image is off the screen in one eye, and on the screen in the other eye.

A 100" to 200" 3D tv... ok, that might make sense. But the smaller the tv, the more the edge becomes a problem.

Yea if it was some sort of actual 3D system that would be cool, but it isnt. I mean if someone's fist comes out of the screen straight towards you, it's not like you can walk to the side of the tv and be able to see the side of the person's arm including their elbow and everything (that you could not be able to see from looking straight at it). Now that would be cool.

They have this. It's virtual reality. There's no tv needed - it's all in the glasses.

In my opinion, it's Bono that's been the problem.

its a fad. wasn't 3d also a fad like 40 years ago too?

my dad wants to get one. i told him he's wasting his money. can't imagine having to put on a pair of those stupid glasses to watch tv.

anyone who thinks this is the next logical step from hd is kidding themselves.

i do remember reading that espn is coming out with an all 3d network at some point this year.

Yeah, i agree with you. Lots of companies trying to profit off the hype Avatar brought IMO. As long as you have to wear very clumsy looking glasses this idea is never gonna take off.

saw something like that in the latest popular science... its a big orb TV on rollers... you can walk around in it like you're walking through a virtual environment... i think the army is testing it right now... combine that with that harness thing that can duplicate the feeling of rain and wind using low freq sound and a cooler wii remote and you have the ultimate gaming experience

    oh and 3-D TVs suck
