LONDON -- Docu-friendly distrib Dogwoof has nabbed U.K. rights to Lucy Walker's "Countdown to Zero."
The Works Intl. sold the pic, which received critical acclaim earlier this year at Sundance before it had its international preem at Cannes in May, where it screened in Official Selection.

Brit helmer Walker, whose past pics include "Waste Land" and "Blindsight," penned and directed the doc, which was produced by Lawrence Bender, whose credits include "An Inconvenient Truth," as well as Lisa Remington. Doc was fully funded by Jeff Skoll's Participant Media in association with the World Security Institute.

Pic looks at the nuclear arms race and exposes a slew of present day threats with insights from political figures Jimmy Carter, Tony Blair, Mikhail Gorbachev and Valerie Plame Wilson, former CIA operations officer and subject of Cannes competish title "Fair Game."

Gary Oldman narrates the doc which features music from Pearl Jam.

The acquisition was negotiated by The Works' Carl Clifton and Anna Godas for Dogwoof.

The indie distrib, which has carved a niche for itself by acquiring mostly "socially conscious" titles such as "Food Inc." and Fanny Armstrong's "The Age of Stupid," aims to "run a wide and innovative campaign around the film this autumn."
