MEXICO CITY - The bull charged and matador Christian Hernandez took off — across the ring, over the wall and into controversy. The admittedly terrified torero was arrested after Sunday’s botched bullfight at the Plaza Mexico, apparently for breach of contract, local media reported Monday. He was released after paying a fine. “There are some things you must be aware of about yourself,” the 22-year-old Mexican matador said in a television interview. “I didn’t have the ability, I didn’t have the balls, this is not my thing.” In a sight rarely seen in the bravado world of bullfighting, Hernandez made a spin with his red cape at the charging bull, then ran across the ring and leapt headlong over the wall to safety, dropping his cape in the process. The crowd hooted in derision. Officials did briefly convince Hernandez to return to the ring on Sunday, where he put his hands over his head and pointed upward before he made a second exit, shaking his head. He later said he would retire from bullfighting.

It’s hard to believe that a guy dressed in straight pink and glitter would be a pussy huh? Anyway this once again illustrates my fundamental problem with bullfighting. The fact that coward matadors can flee the ring whenever they feel like it and only get a citation from the cops. This guys should be fucking locked up. Like hey that’s great bro that you realized you don’t have the balls to be a bull fighter and it’s not you’re thing. Well guess what? Too fucking late. The bull doesn’t have that same option to be like “sorry don’t feel like fighting today” Nope he has no choice. The bull has to fight and gets murdered no matter what. So once you step in that ring the fight should last until somebody dies. Whoever is left standing at the end gets to leave. That’s how Bullfighting should work. Until then they are all puss bags in my book.

I think if you want to make bull fighting a legitimate sport, take away the weapons from the guy. If he can wrestle a bull down with his bare hands and kill it, then I'm all for it. Hell, I would probably buy tickets to that.

I eat beef, so I could care less that they kill a bull, but I don't get the drawn out spectacle of the killing, and why that is fun to watch. Our family went to Mexico on vacation when I was like 18, and we went to a bullfight, you know to get the local "experience"... I remember we all left and were like "what the hell was that? that was kinda disturbing."

We say this yet have no problem killing animals for what we deem as necessary.. whether it's food, products like leather or similar. So who are to be the moral high horse? Why should anyone listen to us?

I think it has more to do with the crowd being entertained by the show than the actual killing of the animal.. It says a lot about us that we find this entertaining.

I agree and the few bull fights I have seen I always root for the bull but I don't live in mexico.

I'm Mexican and i hate bullfighting ...i mean why kill them just to entretain people...and most of the people that goes to the bullfighting events are wealthy people...i don't understand why they enjoy to watch the suffer of an animal

bullfighting or rodeo is not the same as killing a cow for food ... part of the reason i buy organic meats is because of the way they treat the animal ... making an animal suffer for enjoyment is ethically wrong in my books ...
