Nearly 40% of BP is actually owned by US-based interests. If you REALLY want to punish BP, hammer the institutions and individuals that still own BP stock.

These numbers are from BP's website. Should prove interesting to see what change, if any, has occurred here. Keep in mind tho - as BP shares get pummeled on the market, it's just the next big buying opportunity on a long term play for institutions and individuals with obscenely deep pockets. A wise man once said, "buying stocks on the day of the crash... it's evolution baby".
