Can someone list the top-20 most "famous" Rush songs?

I've been a fan since the 80's and realize they have a bunch of hits, but I just want to be sure that I'm not missing any. I realize that "hits" and "good songs" might be different to everyone, but I'm just talking about some of their more well-known songs that I might not be familiar with.

From my list, in no particular order I've got:

1) Tom Sawyer
2) Limelight
3) Dreamline
4) Roll the Bones
5) Show Me Don't Tell Me
6) Subdivisions
7) Ghost of a Chance
8) Red Barchetta (sic?)
9) The Spirit of Radio
10) Free Will
11) Closer to the Heart
12) Working Man
13) New World Man
14) Time Stand Still
15) Bravado
16) The Big Money
17) Hope
18) YYZ
19) Fly By Night
20) Distant Early Warning

Isn't Roundabout a Rush song? That's one of the few i know but i don't see it on your lists.
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

I'm an older 2.gif fan since 1978 so my list will vary quite differently for the OP.

    1. The Camera Eye
    2. 2112
    3. La Villa Stangiato
    4. Red Sector A*
    5. The Spirit Of Radio
    6. Xanadu
    7. Tom Sawyer
    8. A Passage To Bangkok
    9. Mission
    10. Earthshine
    11. Natural Science
    12. Limelight
    13. Trees
    14. By-Tor and the Snow Dog
    15. Leave That Thing Alone
    16. Limelight
    17. Afterimage*
    18. Time Stand Still
    19.Between The Wheels*
    20. What Are You Doing

*I'm very partial to the album *Grace Under Pressure* my first concert, the first 2.gif album I bought and the album that hooked me to the band for 40+ concerts to date. I wish this list was longer, I could go on.....

Not a well known song, but I think "The Pass" is one of their best.

I think you have 4 songs from Roll the Bones on there. It's a decent album but that can't be right. How about some minor alterations:

    1) Tom Sawyer
    2) Limelight
    3) Dreamline
    4) Roll the Bones
    5) Show Don't Tell
    6) Subdivisions
    7) 2112 (at least the intro and Temple of Syrinx part)
    8) Red Barchetta
    9) The Spirit of Radio
    10) Free Will
    11) Closer to the Heart
    12) Working Man
    13) New World Man
    14) Time Stand Still
    15) A Passage to Bangkok
    16) The Big Money
    17) Red Sector A
    18) YYZ
    19) Fly By Night
    20) Distant Early Warning

Not sure if these are famous songs but my favorites are:

    1. Bytor and the Snowdog (love the drum solo as well as the "battle" between the guitars)
    2. Xanadu (brilliant "ending" to Samuel Taylor Coleridge's Kubla Khan)
    3. Cygnus X-1 (made me want to learn about black holes)
    4. 2112 (made me want to learn about Ayn Rand-who I later rejected the philosophy of)
    5. Beneath, Between, and Behind (which I'm told is about the American revolution)
    6. Tom Sawyer (only favorite that was actually a radio-friendly tune)
    7. Limelight (because the world is indeed a stage)
    8. Bastille Day (let them eat cake!)
    9. Freewill (because if we choose not to decide, we still have made a choice)
    10. Working Man (love the guitar power chords)
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

Just slip "Mystic Rhythms" in there and you're done. Perfect.

very good, thanks folks. And yes, I do like the Roll the Bones album.

    Anyone see the movie?

I saw the film a few weeks ago "Rush-Beyond The Lightened Stage" it was absolutely amazing. At first I thought it was just going to be a whole load of talking heads that Sam Dunn has used before on the other films he has made. But Rush was very different, old footage, family interviews, interviews with Geddy,Alex and some of Neil,he is much more private but Alex has such charm.
I was in Rush heaven.Would really recommend it for all fans and anyone curious about am amazing band.
