Where is Sean Penn, George Clooney, Brad Pit etc with their tel-a-thon for the gulf oil spill? One cause too much for them? or they like helping countries other than America? or they don't want to risk making their boy who they supported for President being exposed for how bad he is handling the situation?

when are people going to realize that BP is a corporation...a business that caused this mess! why is it Obama's responsibility to clean it up?
I bet if Obama was on this spill from day 1 it would be... "WTF why is Obama involved in a private corporations mess"Wachovia Center, Philadelphia - 10/3/05

i agree, celebrities are not obligated to raise money for disasters, but they have a platform to use that most people do not--and they only seem to use that platform to push a political agenda or when they will score points in the public eye.0

1 was a natural disaster that affected an incredibly poor society.
1 was a man made disaster caused by a company with gross quarterly profits twice that of the GDP of the previous country mentioned:
Economy - overview:
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 80% of the population living under the poverty line and 54% in abject poverty. Two-thirds of all Haitians depend on the agricultural sector, mainly small-scale subsistence farming, and remain vulnerable to damage from frequent natural disasters, exacerbated by the country's widespread deforestation. While the economy has recovered in recent years, registering positive growth since 2005, four tropical storms in 2008 severely damaged the transportation infrastructure and agricultural sector. US economic engagement under the Haitian Hemispheric Opportunity through Partnership Encouragement (HOPE) Act, passed in December 2006, has boosted apparel exports and investment by providing tariff-free access to the US. A second version of the legislation, passed in October 2008 and dubbed HOPE II, has further improved the export environment for the apparel sector by extending preferences to 2018; the apparel sector accounts for two-thirds of Haitian exports and nearly one-tenth of GDP. Remittances are the primary source of foreign exchange, equaling nearly a quarter of GDP and more than twice the earnings from exports. Haiti suffers from a lack of investment because of insecurity and limited infrastructure, and a severe trade deficit. In 2005, Haiti paid its arrears to the World Bank, paving the way for reengagement with the Bank. Haiti received debt forgiveness for about $525 million of its debt through the Highly-Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) initiative in 2009. The government relies on formal international economic assistance for fiscal sustainability.
GDP (purchasing power parity):
$11.9 billion (2009 est.)
country comparison to the world: 143
$11.67 billion (2008 est.)
$11.52 billion (2007 est.)
note: data are in 2009 US dollars
So I guess my question is, why are you pointing fingers at celebrities during this disaster?
Wouldn't your time be better spent trying to extricate your cranium from your rear so you can do something productive with your time like volunteering to clean up BP's mess instead of being a bitter, hatefilled person?http://twitter.com/DarthSpacegrass

speaking of getting ones head out of their rear...haiti has been given more money by the US than virtually any other country we have given to over the years, but they piss it away and don't use it for what it is intended (ie housing, and health care)....BP is not bad because they take advantage of capitalism and make a boat load of money....they have responsibility in the spill of course, but when it gets to this level the government of our country needs to step up and take over....fortunatley I made a lot of money and was able to sell a company at the age of 33--that is why I am able to find time to blog about issues. I don't hate celebrities, just wish they would use their celebrity (not their money) in a way that could benefit America when we need it.0

God forbid they come out and say "Give our President a break". People may boycott his/her new movie. :?0 -
brad pitt spent a ton of his own money and time rebuilding homes in New Orleans, last time i looked NOLA was still in America. No one should send a dime until BP has nothing left, make them pay for their own disgrace. If it takes ALL of their resources, so be it.0

So... let me get this straight...
You think that celebrities such as Sean Penn and George Clooney... should set up a tel-a-thon... to solicit charity money... from average Americans... to pay BP... so they can pay someone to clean up their mess.

That's your belief?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

If you believe the government can just come in an stop the oil gusher that is a mile below the ocean's surface... then, how hard can it be for them to run affordable access Heatlh Care, right?
...
Also... didn't 'Celebrities' raise money for the the victims of the September 11th attacks? And didn't 'celebrities' raise money for Katrina Victims?
So, it's okay to you if celebrities raise money for Americans... but, leave those filthy foriegners to fend for themselves, right?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

God bless America, the land of the GREED and the home of the SLAVE.... :roll:0

Exactly. BP has billions upon billions. Their mess, their clean up, their compensation. No fundraiser/charity, no government money.
BP will not 'run out' of money. They have plenty for the clean up, the compensation and paying dividends to their shareholders.0 -

Yeah, but... Sean Penn is a commie. And Clooney is a Fascist... and Brad Pitt is a Socialist. If they hate America so much... then, they should go live in California or something.
