Travelling Rigs.

At the moment I'm pondering what to build for a no amp travel rig that I can mount to a pedalboard.

I've got a small 8 channel mixer I was going to mount on a pedaltrain board with a hard case. When I want I can hook that up to a Mackie Thump powered monitor and sing through it or what have you.

I was going to use one of the sansamp character pedals (probably Oxford, Blonde or Leeds) with the speaker simulation as an amp, that way I could just have all of that in the pedal board case and throw it in the truck when I travel. I have a little Zoom recorder I could plug in to easily record if I want and the mixer has a USB out too so that would be nice.

I guess I'm between that and one of the small Boss all in ones, but my thoughts with this is that simplicity will lead to more playing and less fiddling with settings.

Thoughts? Anyone do any of this kind of thing?
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    Why not Pocket Pod?
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

I guess that would work too. Originally I was looking at the Pod XT. But I do have this mixer lying around doing nothing right now.

Comparing size, price, features, and sound quality, I'd take the Pocket Pod over any of the pedal-based amp sims.

Update, bought a Pod 2.0 with a Floorboard for this application.

130 bucks. Cheaper than the Tech 21's even and I can still mount all this on the pedaltrain with the mixer.

i'm currently using a macbook pro and a line6 UX1 with pod farm2. it's fricking brilliant. if i'm travelling the laptop is coming anyway so no big deal to through the UX1 in the bag too. i'm actually playing at a wedding in a couple of weeks and i'm going to use this setup into the board.

    pod farm is incredible.

yeah so it's old as crap as far as technology goes, but my little Pod 2.0 Alesis mixer and Pedaltrain board are working out great.

I love this thing. I haven't plugged the Orange in for weeks.
