Which 2 songs sound alike...?

Ok, what I actually mean is while listening to a bootleg CD, you hear the first note or two from a song and for a split second, you think it is another song, but it ends up being a different one...

My example: I was listening to one of the boots and they started playing Supersonic...and for just about 4 milliseconds I would have bet that they were getting ready to play Mankind.

Is this just me or has anyone else ever did this as well?

    Happens to me with Go and Animal - even the studio versions, I don't know why.

    Edit: In Berlin last year, when they started playing Light Years I thought "whoop, Wishlist!".

    listen to daughter. stone does this little rythmic bass sounding riff. it's drawn out when they play it live right before a tag.
    if hear that beat, rythm, riff whatever it's called in a lot of songs. pretty much all of versus. especially animal

    There was a show or two where the band started playing 1/2 Full and I thought it was Red Mosquito.

    i've heard a couple different bootlegs of shows within the past year and i think unthought known and love boat captain sound very similar through the first few bars
    it's a fragile thing, this life we lead.

    At the newark show I thought "alone" was "hold on" for about 30 seconds. I felt like a dumbass for a few seconds.

    Listen to the 'COUNT' in for ANIMAL and the First *Note*...and it sounds Similar to EVEN FLOW...:)

    The main riffs to Porch and Severed Hand sound like they would splice together nicely.

    Yeah for a while Not For You was my holy grail and I was twice fooled by Light Years into thinking it was about to be played.

    Totally. A good way to distinguish one from the other is that it's not uncommon to hear some feedback during the count-in for Even Flow.

    Brain of J and Spin the Black Circle, especially when they played them in Philly 10/3/05. Thought they were playing the same song back to back, haha. Love them both though!

    This. Although nine times out of ten I instantly know which one it is, it always crosses my mind that they sound a LOT alike with the drumming in the beginning.
