Unexpected gems in Netflix instant view

One of the best investments I've ever made is buying a Roku box! Granted you can't see EVERY movie streaming, there's still plenty out there to see and take a chance on viewing and not worry about paying extra. $9 a month how can you beat it? So has anyone taken a chance on a movie you wouldn't have watched anyway, but ended up loving? Just from what I've seen in the past few months, here's a small list of movies I'd recommend...
Interstate 60...awesome road movie, part indie, part fantasy, great cast, directed by Bob Gale who had a hand in Back to the Future
Special... another indie flick with Michael Rapaport, he loans his body and mind to be used on testing a new prescription drug and it makes him think he's superhero. But the funny thing is we're not really sure if it really DOES make him a superhero, or if he just thinks it. Very dark but funny at the same time.
Population 436... Good thriller staring Jeremy Sisto and Fred Durst (surprisingly good and untool-like!). Takes place in a weird town that has had the same population forever.
Go Further ... Decent documentary staring woody harrelson, borderline preachy about better ways to live your life, for yourself and the environment, but worth watching.
Wicked Lake...Ummm...4 lesbian sorta vampire chicks who kick the asses of creepy redneck dudes in a cabin in the woods...if your into that sorta thing :D
Daydreamer... Very low budget Indie flick but worth watching, one of those movies where it comes together at the end.
Splinterheads...One of my favorites of the bunch! Indie Comedy here, very funny, and quirky without being ridiculous.

I'd go into more detail but don't wanna ruin it! Anyone else feel free to add to these!

  • Netflix has improved their watch instantly selection immensely over the past couple of years.

I've devoured a shitload of stand-up and documentaries. Like you say, it's a chance to watch something you may not have otherwise. I've found I'm much less likely to select a disc I'm not completely sold on than something I can stream and stop whenever I want.

I watched tonight The Messenger with Woody Harrellson. I thought the film was ok, but was pleasantly surprised with the fact that it was on instant view, it only hit DVD two weeks ago, usually the Instant View films are much older than that. Here's to hoping for more smaller window movies before hitting the IV.

The best thing about Netflix instant view is that they have Party Down, an extremely underrated comedy from Starz, on it. I don't have Starz yet I can watch the show as soon as it airs on Friday nights, great show, go watch it now.

    Love the netflix instant watch

we don't do cable at my house cause the kids get horrible grades when we do - we use to shut off cable for the summer then one fall didn't turn it back on that was 7 years ago - been happier in life with out cable ever since - the tv is never on at home from 9am till around 7pm everyone is just doing other projects -
but of course movies are great and the netflix instant watch made it even better for us
then we got a roku player and a sony bluray player with netflix already on it so for about a year we have been watching the netflix instant stuff right on the tv - it is bad ass!
LOST - Deadliest Catch - and loads and loads of movies
HYPE! is on there as well

Me and my wife watched Teeth a few months back. I can't say it was horrible because my expectations were so low, but man, it was pretty bad.

Watched two episodes of Party Down last night!

They have some awesome, uncensored stand-up as well that I've been enjoying.

haha you can't expect much from a movie about a girl with vagina-teeth.

check out zach galifanakis's stand up special on there. hilarious.

    I love Netflix streaming.

I can see a few years down the road this will be norm. Meaning more movies streaming but with that a monthly fee. Which isn't bad at all.

Arrested Development is a current streaming gem. How on earth did this program ever go off the air?

Much better than Seinfeld and those other classic sit-coms.

I wish Shaun the Sheep were streaming. Love watching those with the kids.

Just watched A Fork in the Road last night. Again, another indie flick, I find myself watching a lot of those, i feel like they are there to be found, ya know? Anyway this was a really cool movie starring the beautiful jamie king. right up there with how i felt about splinterheads, highly recommend it!

Man w/ the Screaming Brain (Classic Bruce Campbell)

Lewis CK: Chewed Up (One of the funniest stand up performances I've seen in a long time. Very blue)

Paul Blart: Mall Cop (I watched this for unintentional comedy and was actually surprised that I liked it)

Dr. Horrible's Sign-Along Blog (Neil Patrick Harris and a musical . . . usually not my cup of tea)

Tyson (Awesome even if you don't like boxing)

Trailer Park Boys: The Movie (The Big Nasty)

JCVD (If you know what these initials stand for you should see this movie)

Was this the first time seeing it? Season 1 has Jane Lynch and is probably a little better than season 2 but the Orgy party and Party with the Gute episode in season 2 are great as well.

I have an XBOX 360 but you have to buy the GOLD plan in order to stream Netflix

I'm not really into the online gaming

    I'm considering this instead

got three versions in my house.
    blu ray that has it
    my PS3
    and the Wii

PS3 I like since you can REALLY see the library and not just your own "Instant Queue". I think the Wii is the same.

Still the ease etc is just great. Watch a show like "Top Sniper" and you can be done in one hour vs. waiting a day to get the dvd, watch it, send back etc.

I am stunned when people tell me they don't have netflix at the very least...its just *too easy*
