    Pfft they been around for ages, i remember listening to roseability. Was rather interesting to actually see them having not listened to them for a million years but being a big fan of 100 broke windows.

    Alice in chains for sure is the best!

    KOL are my faves, no doubt! I loved looking forward to their set, it took my mind off PJ for an hour before the show, way recommended!

    Alice in Chains never opened for Pearl Jam, but Pearl Jam opened for them (as Mookie Blaylock).
    Can't escape from the common rule...
    If you hate something, don't you do it too
  • Bad Religion was a pretty bad ass opener.
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;
    sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
    else if (work >= 0) {
    reality.equals(false);
    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}
  • My morning jacket or bad religion

    SMOOSH!!!!
  • Of the 100 or so shows that I've seen since 1994. My favorite openers have been:

    1995 Neil Young & L7 (VFC DC shows) - Awesome. We got pissed off jammy Neil night one. Night two was more greatest hits. Jennifer Finch topless. Early Jack Irons gigs. Interesting atmosphere for many reasons.

    1995 Bad Religion (Red Rocks shows) - What an incredible vibe all around.

    1998 Iggy Pop. 'nuff said, as the youngin's like to say.

    1998 Cheap Trick. Some time later asked Rick Nielsen what it was like to play with PJ and he said they were cool.

    1998 was a really good year for opening bands.

    2000 Sonic Youth. My sister threatened to not go to the shows because she can't stand SY. She ended up going.

    2006 Sonic Youth. Ran into Thurston at a record shop (not Amoeba) on the Haight before one of the shows.

    Honorable mentions:

    1998 Ben Harper. Was not into him, but MSG and Mansfield were great introductions to him.

    1998 Murder City Devils. They were entertaining. Memorable parts were when lead singer was telling us that he was hanging out with EV backstage, etc. Moments later EV comes out and bitches him out about lying to us. Didn't seem like a "bit" and MCD singer looked embarrassed. Anyone have a picture of that (KC show)? Also saw Mike Mc taking pictures of crowd, including us. We were in 2nd row.

    2003 Buzzcocks.

    2005 Sleater-Kinney shows were alright.

    2006 MMJ. Not a big fan, but came around after a half dozen shows.

    Would have loved seeing Joe Strummer (RIP) open for them as PJ hoped. Did not see, but also wished I had seen Ramones open and perhaps will someday catch a KoL/PJ bill.

    PJ as opener: Have seen EV/Townshend, EV/WHO and PJ/WHO gigs at Chicago HOB. Saw the 4 PJ/Stones shows in 1997. These were all awesome experiences. Wished I had seen 2005 HOB with Robert Plant but had to go out of town.
