Present Tense is my favorite Pearl Jam song, when No Code first came out that song was the one that grabbed me right away. My first Pearl Jam concert was September 29th, 1996 at Randalls Island New York, this show was the second time they played Present Tense live (the first at the Showbox in Seattle). They were not even going to play it but near the end of the show they just wanted to keep playing so Ed stopped Mike who was about to go into YLB and they huddled to discuss what else to play, Ed came back and said "Mike and I are going to play a new one for you". And they started into Present Tense, for me that capped off one of the most memorable nights of my life.
