we go!

What a great beginning to a concert. In any case, Ed is actually quoting someone/something here. Maybe I'm dating myself or maybe it's a foolsih question because everyone knows the answer, but I will burn a CD copy of the band's 2006 appearance after Letterman was taped for the first person to respond correctly.

Jackie Gleason used to say that to start his show after the monologue.

while correct, that isn't the one I had in mind. But you both get a CD for that anyway - I'll PM you. The one I had in mind is probably based on Jackie Gleason.

Is the one you are thinking about something a cartoon character said? "Cause I could swear a cartoon character used to say this...but I could be making this up in my head.

Stone Gossard. He sings it out every time the plane's wheels leave the runway on takeoff.

Not what I had in mind, but that's really good. Especially if it's true. I can't believe nobody knows this cartoon.

Allright, Jackie Gleason is truly the correct answer even though it wasn't what I was thinking. But I'm sure that's who Ed was actually quoting. Here's the link to the cartoon - enjoy:
