MMJ 5 night run overlaps with PJs potential 20th anniversary

edited June 2010 in The Porch
I've had that whole week booked off since last September

I'd love to hit the 5 night My Morning Jacket run

I guess I need to make a tough decision.

What are the odds of a PJ show happening? No Soundgarden dates yet so I'm up in the air

Anyone else contemplating the MMJ run?

Maybe PJ will open for them and play the same set they played at the Off Ramp.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

I guess I'm gonna go ahead and get the MMJ tix if I can

Those shows are confirmed, PJ is not

Between Chicago and Philly last year and MSG this year I caught 8 shows and well over 50 since 98

I have been thinking about this non-stop the last day or so. I think we need to resign ourselves to the fact that this 20th anny show isn't going to be the big celebration we all think it is. I mean, right now they are penciled in for South America in October, by many reports. There was also mention of the Cameron Crowe doc coming out in 2011 to coincide with the 20th, so Pearl Jam will most likely play along with that. It is looking more and more that this 20th anny will not happen till 2011, so bring on the Jacket!!!!!!!

I'll be making the 3hr trip to the big apple for at least 2 of the MMJ shows...can't wait!

This occurred to me, too. It may not be a popular move, but I say buy the MMJ tickets and take a wait-and-see approach. Based on the size of Terminal 5 and the scuttlebutt on the MMJ boards, I don't think you'll have any problem dumping the tickets if you decide to change course.

This supposed 20th Anniversary show is nothing more than speculation started here at the message board. No one outside of here has heard any rumors of such a thing even existing. As someone said a few months ago, when they bumped into Stone he didn't even realize that it was this year and the band never discussed it. Also add the fact that Cameron Crowe is working on a film for 2011 to coincide with the 20th anniversary should probably squash any speculation of a show this year. I wouldn't plan your lives around an imaginary concert.

Yea, I got the MMJ email yesterday, and thought the same thing about the dates overlapping. I did already get Chicago tix for MMJ in August, so I'll get a partial Jacket fill. But damn, I'd kill to hit these 5, especially At Dawn and Z (on a Friday!). Decisions, decisions...

I agree with most of what you said... but an anniversary show being filmed for an anniversary DVD makes sense.

With that being said, all MMJ studio albums > a 35 song show from Pearl Jam... easily. And Pearl Jam is my favorite band by far.

If I had to see either PJ or MMJ on one night- I'd take PJ. But 5 against 1 (not intended lol) and those 5 spanning an entire catalogue... that's an easy choice.

Are MMJ doing what Coheed and Cambria did 2 years ago?

Coheed played at Terminal 5 4 nights in a row, and played their studio ablums in order each night. Since their albums are concept/a running story line, it was that much more intense.

Is that what MMJ is doing?

I suppose there is a chance that PJ will do some more US dates in the fall.
But I cant worry about that now.
MMJ at terminal 5 is going to be great. I happen to like the venue.
