I've met Death..a handsome devil, that one..
His eyes made of the algae you shall choke beneath
Sable hair to make him dark -butnottall....just petit enough that his presence not overwhelm
His cheekbones chisled from the stone that shall rest at your head
..And a soft voice..Ah! with which he sings a world you want to see -
or so says he..

It goes unnoticed by most.
He takes his time,
you drink his wine..
A few sips is all he needs to hypnotise your mind.
You meet him once, he steals your eye, so that you may not see the beauty in the life abound.

You meet him twice, he steals your heart, so that you may not feel the yearning love you do part.

You meet him thrice, he steals your lungs
so that you may not breathe the flowers that make your smile
..it has begun -
the final act, within which he strangles your conscious mind..
To utter the last word before the curtain falls is a luxury to behold

I've met Death..a handsome devil, that one..
I know he knew with that glimmer smiling warmly from his eye.
I tried to tell them, but worried he needn't be - no one believed me..
I tried to keep him at bay, Oh, how I tried!
But he wasn't going away.

He knew I knew, but a word he didn't say.
His song of silk was not spun for me today

..but we'll meet again

i would say i've met more witches than devils.
those witchy chics are very hypnotic.
    shape shifters and such.
they can be anybody they wish, endless faces.
    quite tricky those gals.

own a man's heart and use it as a pin cushion.

Thank you Oceans :D Dr.Jonathan is the doctor who treated my mom when she was dying from cancer. The first time I saw him, we found out mama's eye was not going to go straight again. The second time he told us there was fluid around her heart. By then I knew he was bad luck..I even outright told her he's death in disguise..But she was already smitten with him.
The third time he said he thought she had lung cancer..turned out to be melanoma, as he told us the 4th time..The fifth, he told me a fourth tumor had grown in her brain over the weekend, she was in a semi-euphoric state and repeating her self without realising it. The 6th, she went into a coma, that's when the flowers came from a dear friend, she never got to see or smell them. And the 7th, she passed away.
Not one single time did I see him that she didn't take a dramatic turn for the worse..

Father Damien didn't do anything, but a Catholic priest named Damien is just too good to pass up LoL
  • death in disguise...yeah this guy sounds like he was trouble alright ... so it's all the more admirable that you wrote this poem which has a positive tone to it, but which goes back to a not so positive experience... then again, in such times, it's all shades of grey and you don't know what's good or bad... I am so sorry for your loss, but I believe your mother is now flying high
