If all you know Devo for is the big hit "Whip It", do yourself a favor and get your head out of the sand. What. a. fucking. brilliant. punk. band!

I am incredibly tempted by "Something For Everybody" (out Monday here in the UK), but unfortunately, June is a busy month for new releases so I have to be selective (Also out Monday - Crowded House "Intriguer", and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers "Mojo").

I'll no doubt end up getting it at some point next week and going broke, starving until pay-day. From what I've heard (there's a few tracks streaming around the Internet) it sounds really great, exciting music, and a fun album for summer. It's killing me convincing myself not to just go and buy it! :(

Jocko Homo is my favorite Devo song. Really fun tune. I'd like to see these guys live. I bet it's a trip.

Yes, Cosmo! And more coherent than a lot of other punk that came out. I love their presence and showmanship, too. So fucking punk. As Cobain once said: "Of all the bands who came from the underground and actually made it in the mainstream, Devo is the most challenging and subversive of all."

The version from their live album is awesome.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

I LOVE DEVO and they were one of my favorite bands growing up, however I consider them more New Wave than Punk.
