I am currently listening to the Prudential show on PJ Radio. The crowd sounds plenty into it. Not sure why all of the criticism of crowd enthusiasm.

Please!!! Also, having been awarded a lottery winner ticket and sitting in the 10th row for that show, the crowd was FINE to me!

Listening as well, was also there. I was 3 rows from Mike in the wings, and my section was wild but it was evident that a lot of the place was on their asses. The boot sounds good though - when Of The Girl came on earlier I was hoping they'd be playing the whole show and it is soothing the pain of still being stuck at work...ever so slightly.

Boot sounds better to me than it live, crowd wise. The setlist kicked ass so I don't really care about the crowd anyway. Besides the fact that the lame crowd was probably the reason for No Way and Leaving Here being taken off the setlist (and then neither was played at the two MSG shows).

I think everyone has to calm down about the crowd thing for this show! the only times I recall the crowd being less than enthuisastic at the show was when they did Jersey Girl (def felt crowd should have given more respect for them doing one personal song for the state)... and first encore (but those are becoming expected)...

    crowd was fine.

"No way" is one of the two remaining album songs I've yet to hear...soooooooo clooooooooooooose!!! Dammit. Can't believe they punished the crowd by not playing that one!

(the other one I'm missing is "around the bend" - not liking my odds there either!)

The crowd was noticeably less enthusiastic than every other show that took place that week and with most of the crowd coming from the tri-state area/philly I presume, it was way less than what we have come to expect. The boot is deceiving but sounds great. Immortality was phenomenal!

No Way and Leavin Here were swapped out, though... 2 songs weren't scrapped from the setlist entirely.

That show was amazing, I loved every minute of it. The boot sounds great, you can hear the crowd singing along... I know I didn't stop jumping the whole show. Only people I wanted to punch were the 2nd row lottery winners who sat through the encores, other than that all was well, IMO.

Crowd sounds okay except for the participation parts.........Even Flow, Daughter tag, Alive now.....a little low...it is somewhat noticeable, at least compared to the other full shows that have been on here....

Definitely doesn't ruin the boot or anything to that extent

I was going to say after listening to the Philly 2009 shows and then hearing this Newark 2010 boot..the crowd sounds better on the Newark boot....being at all 5 shows..I know the Philly crowds were much louder in person but I like how the Newark boots you can hear the crowd during the songs. I too think the Newark "crowd" thing is a bit overblown....I was 11th row center and people around me were all into it singing out and participating.

not to many people in that crowd probably knew it was a tom waits song or that the boss made it popular over the years. I'd be willing to bet that most of that pj crowd only knows the bosses hits. Jersey girl a very cheesy song anyways. If pj wanted to do a jersey song they shoulda done born to run or atlantic city.

My problem with this boot is on many songs Eddie's voice sounds double-tracked & in the background, not up front. On Daughter, there is a gap mid-way. Someone did an audience boot of Newark & Eddie's voice is much clearer. As far as the crowd,I was there & although it certainly wasn't MSG,it also wasn't dead. There were people in front of me,in Ten Club seats,at MSG II who sat so your perspective of the crowd is in someways based on your location.

I didn't know it was aTom Waits-penned song until afterward, and I still don't give a fuck who wrote it. they threw it in the setlist and that should have been applauded big time, but to my ears there the cheering was so-so on that. but seriously how many other states got sung a song (cheesy or not) with the name of the state in the title? imo that was cool shit. and I'm not even from Jersey.

I was sitting in a non-10c section and it was the quietest concert I have ever been to... I am sure the first 12-15 rows were rocking, as well as the 10c sections, but otherwise it was a flat-liner... I am sure the stage mics picked up some crowd noise, but the tall roof, cavernous arena, and less-than-enthusiastic crowd combined to make this a very good show to hear the band.

I'd imagine the crowd wasn't "overreacting" because Bruce's version is definitely the most popular, and they certainly did not perform that version. They performed the Tom Waits version, and the crowd I'm sure didn't know how to sing along with the melody line of that version. I know I wouldn't have. I'd imagine they decided to just sit back and take it all in.

I have been to my fair share of PJ shows and Newark was by far the worst/quietest crowd I have ever seen. But I thought the setlist was great and the sound in that arena was really good.

I was at the Newark show, and it was, SURPRISINGLY, a quiet crowd. But, i thought the Bristow Va. crowd was quieter. Though, neither had a affect on my concert experience.

yeah I didnt do Bristow. and maybe I am spoiled being the northeast and am use to loud crowds but Newark was oddly quiet.

I haven't heard the boot yet but i was there and the crowd was certainly quiet; To the point where Ed said something about it. The band obviosly felt the energy or lack thereof. That being said, it didnt ruin the show at all for me and it shouldn't for anyone. The setlist was incredible and the sound in the arena was perfect. Can't wait the boot to arrive.

agreed. not sure why there is so much intense hatred towards the crowd. Was the crowd as strong as the MSG show? of course not. And im going to guess that Boston and a few other shows had more energy. People sit at every show- -including at all four MSG shows ive attended. And people in my section this year at MSG left early and screwed around on the blackberries and even a few Ipads. People act as if everyone sat at Newark and barely made any noise, which simply isnt close to the truth. Remember - the 10c seats were sold out, so in theory, there should have been a lot of energy on the floor and the sides, which is how it looked to me (my section on the sides never sat down and was pretty loud). And all of this talk about songs being dropped because Eddie was pissed at the crowd is just speculation -- no one on this board, unless they have a link to the band, can say why those songs were dropped.

From the Seattle 2009 crowd - we feel your pain about getting dumped on about being a shit crowd.

At least Vedder didn't call you guys out the next night as being a "shit crowd" as he did to Seattle. It felt pretty crumby to have had him do that too.

he just said something quick at first encore..something like "a lil quiet out here.i understand. this is how you're gonna be jersey"

    which sparked the crowd

Agreed and from what I saw of the setlist at the end, nothing was dropped... songs were swapped out. There's a difference.
