Alt Rock and Modern rock

Anytime I think of any modern rock radio station, any "alt rock" station, someone posted a thread about KROQ, I just sort of get queasy. Most of these alt rock stations dont even play alternative music. Is Hinder or Seether in the least bit alternative? They are mainstream music that millions of people love, how is that an alternative?
Modern Rock, at least the rubbish on the radio tagged as such is absolute crap. I think of Nickelback, Three Days Grace, Seether and the like. Music completely uninpsired, and void of any meaning or feeling. Its stadium rock about girls, designed to get the band groupies.
There was a time when rock radio was actually good, we all know it was good in the 90's, but somewhere along the line modern rock and alt rock came to symbolize this bloated, meaningless, arena rock crap that gets shoved down our throat.
Its Hinder or Daughtry or that kind of stuff. With u2, its arena rock but you have meaningful music and important messages. With the bands that currently make up modern rock

Also, of quick note, i don't believe KROQ has ever played Hinder, Three Doors Down, Nickelback or Daughtry. Even they have some standards
granted the last KOL album had some radio hits and was sub par but don't be ridiculous. they aren't worst than the other mentioned bands. If you're intention is just to stir the pot or if you actually believe that it's your call
Not stirring the pot but I have to agree with Fenway. They are pretty bad. I regrettably have all the albums. Aha Shake Heartbreak is among one of the most awful albums I have ever heard. Only by the Night is better but I think as a whole Kings of Leon only got popular recently because they went mainstream. There's a reason they weren't well known before that......with the exception of a half a dozen songs off the first 3 albums, they blow.

I grew up in the Kansas City area and try to visit the family at least once a year and they have a surprisingly good rock station. I'm pretty sure they don't play the aforementioned axis of terrible bands.
